Milord's choice

1133 Words
Far away in Nightfalls sat a masculine figure before the fire place in the drawing room the fire crackling as the woods burned, his head was leaned back on the chair with closed eyes, the fire casting a golden hue on his raven black hair and over the side of his face, he had a well defined and high cheekbones like they had been sculptured by the gods themselves. "Milord, there is a letter for you."came a voice from the background as his eyes snapped open to reveal a set of smokey grey eyes that looked lazily to his side to find his butler standing with a bow and a letter in his hand. He took it from him and read address,it was from lord Raphael of coundour, his neighboring kingdom. It was an invitation to a ball party,it was three days from now. "A ball." his voice came out void making the already cold weather colder, but that didn't seem to affect his butler as much as it did to others. Why would the great Raphael invite him again when he had balantly neglected all the other invitations maybe he was just trying to remain in his good grace. "Burn it."he said handing it over to his butler who took it but diligently stood in place. "Could you explain why you are still standing there, don't tell me you have an opinion of your own."he asked his voice dripping with annoyance "Milord, I would suggest you went for the ball."he said calmly ignoring the tone of his master's voice. "And what makes you think I find such events pleasurable, it's just a cluster of worthless peasants."he deadpanned. "You could invite the girls over , then have your pick there so that they wouldn't have to come all the way here,it is a long journey , milord."he said with a bow. After a while of thinking he finally came to a conclusion. "Alright."it wasn't that he cared or anything like that, he just thought it would be nice to kill two birds with one stone. "Extend the invitation to them, with the address." "Yes, milord." the butler said giving another bow and started out of the drawing room, he had been there when the exchange was made between his lord and the lord of Gatrish and he still didn't know why his lord had agreed to something like that, but then again no body knew how his mind works but at least there would finally be a lady who was here to stay,a wife rather than some woman all he hoped was that she was well mannered and could stand the fury of their lord when the time came and if not, then he could only pity the poor girl who could be the lord's choice. "Wake up ,miladies."Natasha pleaded again on one side of the bed touching Trice, they had been on this for sometime now. "Please your highnesses, your father might get upset if you don't show up to the table again." Isabel said on the other side of the bed tapping Tina's arm gently. "Please milady." Katie's voice came from the foot of the bed as she tugged on Thrianna's feet. "Go away."she said waving her hand at them with great effort as it fell slack again by her side.  Natasha sighed, moving over to the curtains that hung high at a corner of the room. "So much light, shut it out."Tina groaned in her sleep. Trice finally sat up rubbing her eyes, then she moved from the bed so that her legs could touch the floor before she stood, Natasha sighed in relief as she was her lady-in-waiting, she helped her out of her clothes and lead her to the large bathroom. After a while Tina stepped in and their bodies were washed.Thrianna stepped in after they were done, not wanting anybody washing or touching her body when she could do it herself, she asked Isabel to stand by as usual until maybe she needed help after which she dressed and joined her family for breakfast. The mood in the dining room was much worse than yesterday, with the girls neither talking to their father nor looking up from their food and he didn't bother to start up a conversation with them but asides from that every other thing was perfectly normal with their father handling court room matters, their mother giving out orders on how she wanted the castle to look before their departure while Tina helped her out,Trice had gone on her harp lessons while Thrianna occupied her self with a book in the library , the day went by faster than it normally did and quiet early in the morning they were already prepared to leave with one carriage occupied by the king and queen ,the other by Trice ,Tina and Thrianna and the last by their ladies-in-waiting with guards taking their places at each side of the carriage with a total of fifteen on horseback. "She shouldn't be here." laurel repeated for the third time since they entered the carriage. "And leaving her behind is not an option, you know how she can be, don't worry yourself." he said placing a hand on her knee as they rode away from the castle. "Okay?." he asked as she nodded forcing a smile on to her lips. "What's his name?" Thrianna's voice sounded in the next carriage. "Darion."Trice said as she fixed locks of her hair behind her ear. "You must like him alot."Thrianna said again. "I do."Trice answered immediately her cheeks turning rosy, she wasn't quite comfortable with the discussion. "Do you know where he is from?, his family?,oh!,does he have siblings? and-," "Give her some space ,Thrianna." Tina said with a giggle. "Strangely he hasn't mentioned where he came from, but he has said alot about his brothers."Trice answered. "Brothers?,how many of them?" Thrianna asked again. "Four?,I think." "Oh!,I can't wait for us to get back,"she chirped clapping her hands together."we could go visit them and we could-," her voice trailed off as she realized that one of them weren't coming back after this and at that minute she felt unease settle in the pit of her stomach, she leaned back on the carriage cushion massaging her temple with two fingers as she felt slightly dizzy. "Are you okay?" Trice asked in concern. "It's just a bit of dizziness, that's all."she answered closing her eyes to suppress the feeling it gave her stomach, but it only turned worse she feared she would throw up. "Take this." Tina handed her a pouch of water which she took gratefully, taking slow gulps. "Feeling better?" Trice asked and she nodded her head resting back on her sit this journey would be hell for her, that one thing she was very sure of.
