I walked back into the room and when I did Lee was laying in the bed. “You’re finally back.” He said with a pointed look. I stood there staring at him. “You didn’t tell me you had a lunch date with King Barion.” He crossed his arms. “Well you wouldn’t listen this afternoon when I tried to tell you why I was upset.” I walked to the bathroom. “Probably because you got half naked in front of Arnold!” He jumped off the bed and followed me. “I need to call your brother.” I put out my hand. “Why?” Lee asked. “I have questions for him.” I said looking at Lee. “About?” Lee continued to ask. I put my hand down and glared at Lee. “What? You can’t tell me?” Lee was angry and probably rightfully so. “It’s about mate marks.” I said to him. Lee was quiet. He shook his head took out his phone and tossed it onto the bed. “Do what ever you want.” He walked out and I heard the door slam across the hall. I walked to the bed and grabbed the phone. I heard the door slowly shut across the hall and Arnold came in. “Are you ok?” He asked. I was dialing James number. “Maybe.” I said holding the phone to my ear. I turned to Arnold. “Shut the door please.” I asked him. He gave me a confused look but did as I told. “What?” I heard James on the other end. “Hey, I gave a question for you.” I said to him. There was a moment of silence. “Why are you calling on Lee’s phone and not your own phone?” James asked. “Why does that matter? Never mind that, have you heard about a mate mark not working to ward off guys that aren’t your mate? Like the Alpha king?” I heard the door open and looked, Arnold was gone. There was complete silence on the other end of the phone. “How would I know that? Why are you asking me?” James sounded annoyed. “Because I can’t ask Lee. He would freak out.” There was silence but I could hear whispers on the other end. “What can’t you ask me?” Lee was leaning against the door way. Arnold peeked behind him. “Seriously Arnold!? I might as well put him on speaker phone so everyone knows!” I scoffed and sat there. “Hannah?” It was Hermia. “There was a rumor that always went around about the king and mates. A long time ago when we had a neighboring pack over, the daughter of the Alpha told me that if you were born to a alpha that you were automatically a mate to the King. I always thought it was a joke.” Hermia said as I sighed. “Well it’s not a joke.” I told her. “Oh my god Hannah, how many alphas are you trying to notch in your belt. Ew.” I heard a fumble and James got back on the line. “Are you going to tell my brother or wait until this becomes a big thing?” James asked and I looked at Lee who was waiting for a answer from earlier. “No, I will.” I said. “Well if that answers your question then we are done here and I have work to do.” James hung up. I held the phone down. “d**k…” I said and held the phone out to Lee. He took it and put it in his pocket. “Did you get your answers?” Lee asked. “That any female born to a alpha is automatically mates with the king regardless of marking status? Yes.” I said and Lee’s face dropped. The silence was uncomfortable “So now I have to share you with the king aswell. That’s just great. GREAT.” He turned and slammed his door again. Arnold came in and stood there. “What now?” Arnold ask like we were making some kind of battle plan. “Now I have to go on a date with the king tomorrow for dinner.” I sighed and looked out to the hall. “Do you think that’s wise?” Arnold asked. “I can’t tell him no.” I said. “You can always tell him no.” Arnold put his hand on my shoulder. “Thank you, I don’t think he takes no for a answer.” I felt sudden pings of saddened hitting my heart. I started to cry. Arnold looked surprised. “Lee’s sad.” Arnold hugged me. “I can’t blame him, I would be too. It’s not like he can fight the king the way he fought me.” Arnold looked at me. “Challenging the king is like asking for death.” I nodded. “Should I go to him?” I asked Arnold. “To the king!?” He looked shocked. “To Lee! Not the king!” I laughed and wiped my eyes. “Yes I think you should go and explain things. Tensions have been high today now that we have to stay here until he says we can go.” Arnold said standing up and holding out his hand. I grabbed it and we went into their room. Lee sat on the bed facing the wall. Arnold walked out and shut the door. I walked up and sat next tor him. He looked over at me. “Gracing me with your presence your majesty?” He asked. “Why are you acting like this? I know you’re hurting.” I went to grab for his hand and he pulled it away. “Are you serious? If you’re going to act like this, I can’t.” I went to get up. “You know I can’t fight him right?” He said sadly. “I could fight Arnold. I knew I could win against Arnold. The King? I wouldn’t stand a chance. Then I would be putting James in harms way. The entire pack even!” He shook his head. “He could just take you and that would be that.” He twiddled his thumbs. “Lee.” I grabbed his hand. “I don’t want the king, I don’t want Arnold, I don’t want anyone that’s not you. I want you.” I gripped his hand tight and he looked at me with a weak smile. “What hurts is that I want to believe you. I want to believe it so bad.” He covered his face with his free hand. “You can believe it. You can believe in me.” I tried to comfort him. “I want to.” I rubbed his hand as we sat in silence. “Hannah you’re my whole world.”
