Chapter 7: Welcome Back

1657 Words
I just looked at Pears’s innocent sleeping face beside me as I still think about what my mother told me, that they would surprise him, so I should keep quiet too.   Living with him was a dream but I guess that maybe yes, dreams do come true, however, also dreams do end.   I don’t what will happen after our graduation and I feel like I can’t do anything about it either so I’ll just let it flow and let it be.   Days had gone by until it was already our graduation. Mrs. Xavier was with us because she wanted to escort her nephew, I think she still cared about him, I’m sorry for judging too early.   Everything was neatly and organized at our school. Pears was looking so handsome as he is every damn day. Everyone was looking so happy moving on to the next chapter of their lives, while I am scared, scared that Pears won’t be in that next chapter.   It was a great ceremony. Betty’s mother took picture of us five in one frame and reminded us to go to their house tomorrow for that little celebration, and also to hang out with Celine before she takes her summer vacation elsewhere. We all agreed to be there as we disband because Pears and I have a dinner to catch at his house, his original house.   And I don’t know what’s going to happen.   “I wonder how Drake is going to react.” Pears said while we were preparing to go to their house.   It also made me think because the last time we interacted, he was so pissed at me, but hey, move on, will you?   “It’s been a while, I think it’s going to be okay.” I told Pears.   “I hope so.” He responded.   It was then my mother knocked.   “You boys ready?”   “Yes, ma.” I shouted then opened the door.   “Is sister Chloe coming with us?” I asked.   “No, your sister is busy finishing her thesis so she can successfully graduate next month.” My mother answered me.   Just by then, we three proceeded to Xavier’s residence for that dinner.   When we got there Mrs. Xavier let us in and led us into their dining room where a banner was hanging.   “Congratulations and Welcome Back Pears!”   At the first glance, Pears was confused.   “Uhm, thank you.”   Drake and Duke were also there, and yes Drake was giving me weird stares.   “So, are you happy you’re going to live with us again?” Duke hugged Pears.   “Wha… what?”   “You’ll live here again. Drake is cool with it.” Mrs. Xavier added then she looked at Drake as he just gave his mother a forced smile.   “I can’t.” Everybody was shocked by Pears.   “What do you mean you can’t?” Duke asked him.   “I still want to live with DJ and his family.” Pears explained.   That made me smile a bit.   “Oh, but Pears, it’s causing a little bit nuisance to the Zaleski's, that’s why we decided to get you back here finally.” Mrs. Xavier explained which we all know wasn’t true, like how can Pears be a nuisance when she is paying my mother more than what Pears really needs.   “Look Pears, it’s not that I don’t want you in my house anymore, I just thought you miss living here.” My mother said as she walked towards a confused Pears.   “Please don’t send me back, I made a promise to Dion.” Pears pleaded.   Pears turned to me.   “We will never leave each other, right?” He asked me.   “Ri…ght.” I slowly replied.   “Pears, you can still see each other even if you move back here.” Duke butted in.   “Yes, and it’s really about time you come back here, I made a promise to your parents I would take care of you before they were buried.” Mrs. Xavier told him, which I totally didn’t buy because she literally sent Pears to us for the sake of her troublesome son. Although yes, she is redeeming herself, gosh, I don’t know why I’m so mad.   “No, I can’t.” Pears argued with them.   “Pears, it’s already settled, your brother Duke will get the rest of your things later.” Mrs. Xavier said but then Pears grabbed my hand and rushed off.   We were running when I can still hear them shouting both our names, but I didn’t stop, I just let Pears pull me, because with him, I’ll go anywhere even if it’s hell.   We stopped when we reached the park as the rain poured. What a coincidence.   “Pears, we should go back.”   “Why are you so calm? I’m about to- wait, did you know?”   He caught me off-guard there as I wasn’t able to say anything.   “You knew and you didn’t tell me! Why!?”   He was so angry.   “Oh, you want me to back, isn’t it?”   “No, Pears… it’s not like that.”   “You want me to go back that’s why you didn’t say anything to me!”   “I just didn’t know what to do.” “No, it’s fine, I’ll go back to my aunt, if that’s what you want.”   He was about to walk away but I hugged him from his back.   “Pears, the last thing I want is you going back there, you made a promise you won’t leave me, right?”   He became calm after hearing me.   “Let’s talk to them properly, let’s ask for a few more months, or just this whole summer.” I told him.   He turned at me and hugged me back.   “I’m sorry for lashing out like that. They are right though, I need to go back, but I like your idea.”   I broke off the hug and looked at him.   “So, let’s go back?”   Beneath the rain, in the midst of this madness, I welcomed back my feelings for this boy. I have been trying to forget it for months, and focused on just becoming friends or brothers but right now, I just love him too much.   Back when we were so little, Pears had a tantrum because he accidentally broke his favorite toy, and he was crying nonstop until he saw me and I invited him to play with me outside instead. From then on I was always able to contain his unnecessary emotions, just like right now, and I promised, I will always be there for him when he needs me.   We went back together at the Xavier’s.   “Oh, thank God you two are here, your brother Duke went out looking for you, didn’t you see him?” Mrs. Xavier rushed to us as we shook our heads.   “You’re all wet where did you two go?” My mother followed in.   “Wait, I’m going to get towels, by the way, Duke might have gone to your DJ’s house instead that’s why you two didn’t come across him.” Mrs. Xavier said then she went out to get us towels.   They made us sat at the dining table after dried ourselves and changed our clothes.   “So, what was that about Pears?” Mrs. Xavier asked him.   “I’m sorry I’m just…” Pears looked at me and I decided to join the conversation.   “He’s not ready to move back… yet, maybe he can stay long for the whole summer?” I asked both my mother and Mrs. Xavier.   They gazed at each other and gave an ‘I guess we don’t have a choice, huh’ look.   “Alright, after the summer vacation, you’re finally moving back here, and no more running off. Look at you two, you might get sick.”   Pears nodded at his aunt.   “Go on, eat now. Drake already ate earlier.” Of course, what can we expect?   A damp Duke walked in while we were eating.   “Oh, these two are finally here.” He spoke.   “Yes, they came back, where have you gone to?” He was greeted by his mother.   “Uh… to their favorite park.” Duke answered.   “But we were there.” Pears joined in.   “Oh. Ah, I checked their house first then to the park.” Referring to our house.   Duke then went to his room.   After talking and eating, we decided to finally go home, with Pears with us of course.   “Remember our deal, okay?” Mrs. Xavier said to Pears while we were at the doorstep.   “Yes, aunt Gina, thank you.” Pears responded me and my mother also thanked them for the dinner.   Once we got home.  We saw a newly bathed Chloe in the living room.   “Oh, I thought…” Chloe spoke but she was instantly interrupted by our mother.   “Pears is going to be staying until their summer vacation.”   “Oh, okay.”   “I thought Duke already told you.” Mother said.   “What? Why would he?” My sister asked.   “He said he came here.”   “Well, I didn’t see him… I was taking bath because you know I just finished another chapter of my thesis. I’m going up now.” My sister then proceeded to her room.   As the day ends, I was still thinking about the park earlier, about Pears and everything about him. I am genuinely happy that he’s still here with me, in the same bed.   It seemed that he already dozed off, he must be tired of all the drama and running today. As I closed my eyes to sleep, I didn’t know if he was aware of it but felt his hands hugged me and embraced me closer.
