Allegra Nearly a month passed during which sausage was strictly forbidden in the house to ease my sudden sensitivity to it. Conall and I had gone to the doctor and listened with rapt fascination to our pup’s rapid heartbeat. Even Leigh couldn’t deny being excited about the prospect of being an aunt, and insisted she be allowed to decorate the nursery. Conall insisted on getting the mail every day, hoping to intercept the summons from the council- if it ever came. His over-protectiveness was beginning to drive me crazy. He’d gotten it in his head that if I got too upset, it would affect our pup. Oddly enough, when the courier from the council showed up on the front step with the summons and I was the one to answer the door, it was Conall who said rude words. “Calm down, Hot Wheels,”
