Chapter Twenty-Five
Gracie floated in and out of consciousness. She felt herself being carried and voices fading in and out, but that was about it. Then there was blissful darkness. She felt a slight rumble and more voices a short time later before the darkness came again. Gracie burrowed into the warmth around her as it came.
“Why won’t she wake up?” a deep voice asked in frustration.
“She will. She has been through a very traumatic event. I am amazed she did not shut down sooner,” a soft feminine voice replied.
“The baby…?” the deep voice asked hoarsely.
“The baby is fine. From the scans, it looks like the baby is a female,” the soft voice said patiently.
