Chapter 1

Amber, your mother was involved in an accident." It is still ringing in her ears.

When she heard it, she could not believe it.

Her brain has stopped working. It is like a bucket full of ice water was poured onto her and she froze like a statue.

From the other side, Lilly was shouting, "Hey! Are you there? Are you listening to me?"

That commotion dragged Amber back to the world.

She said, "Huh! Yes, I am here."

Lilly, on the other side, shouted, "Hey! Come to the city hospital immediately."

Amber said, "Yes, I am coming now."

She immediately got up from the seat.

She hurriedly took her bag and left from there.

She called a cab and went to the city hospital.

All that journey was filled with many thoughts.

Sometimes, her heart was questioning, what will happen if something happens to Mom, how will she live.

On the other hand, her brain was consoling her, nothing will happen to Mom. She will be fine. You are thinking too much. It must be just a small accident.

She must have just received a small injury. That's all. Don't think too much.

In this soul friction, she reached the hospital.

She paid the taxi and went to the reception.

The receptionist asked her which room she is.

Amber did not know. She did not ask about the room number.

She opened her bag to take out the phone.

Her hand was trembling badly. Amber did not even notice that. Her palms became wet.

Just then, she heard Lilly's voice.

"Amber."

Amber heard Lilly's voice and turned around.

Lilly was coming from inside the hospital.

Amber looked at Lilly and could not control herself.

All the tears which froze rained when she saw Lilly.

She hugged Lilly and cried.

Lilly patted Amber's back and said, "Amber, it's okay. Nothing will happen to Mom."

Amber could not control herself.

Lily said, "Amber, this is not the time to think about all this. First, we need to go."

They both went to the room where Violet, Amber's mother, was kept.

Amber looked at her mother through the glass.

So many doctors surrounded her and she could not see her mom.

She turned to Lilly and said, "Lilly, did the doctor say anything?"

Lilly is her good friend. They both grew up together.

She was there for her in all the good and bad times. She shared all her happiness and grief with her.

Lilly shook her head and said, "No, they took her inside and the doctor did not come out."

Lilly was the one who came there first. So, Amber thought she missed what the doctor had said.

Lilly looked at Amber, who is sad and anxious.

She knew that Amber has only her mother in this world. She knew how much she means to her.

She can imagine how sad Amber is.

Amber said, "Lily, how do you know Mom was in an accident? Who called you?"

Lilly said, "Mom was in an accident when she was going to work. Someone who saw her first called me to inform me."

Amber was a little surprised. Actually, she should have been the first one to get the call.

But why did that person call her?

She took out her phone and checked it.

She saw that someone had called her a few times. She did not pick up the calls as she was in a meeting.

Amber squeezed out the tears from her eyes and said, "Looks like the person called me first. But I did not check it."

Lilly said, "Yes, I also called you a few times. You did not pick up."

"Only after some time, you took my call."

Just then the doctor pushed the door and came out.

Both Amber and Lilly went to him.

Amber asked him anxiously, "Doctor, how is my mother?"

The doctor looked at Amber and asked, "Are you her daughter?"

Amber nodded her head and said, "Yes, Doctor. How is her condition?"

The doctor said, "Listen, lady, your mother had a major head injury."

"Her condition is very critical."

Amber felt like the sky had fallen on her.

She felt like her mind became numb.

Lilly looked at Amber and tapped her.

Amber said, "Doctor, my mother will be saved, right? She will be safe, right?"

"Please tell me, Doctor."

The doctor looked at Amber and understood her situation.

He said, "Look, I understand your situation. But I will not give you false hopes."

"Your mother's condition is very critical."

"She needs immediate brain surgery. If not, she will not survive."

"And also, I cannot guarantee that the surgery will be successful."

"The chances of success are only 1%."

"If the operation is not successful, she will slip into a coma."

"She may fall into a permanent coma."

"But this is the only chance to save her."

"Only this surgery is the last hope to save her."

Amber listened to the doctor and did not understand clearly.

But she only understood that her mother needs immediate surgery and the chances of survival are low.

She immediately said, "Do the surgery, Doctor. If it is the only chance to save her, please do it."

She doesn't want to leave even 0.1% of a chance to save her.

The doctor looked at Amber and said, "I think you don't understand. You need a lot of money to perform this surgery."

"If you arrange for the money, I will start the procedure."

Amber said, "Of course, I have money, Doctor. There are 5000 dollars in my account. I will pay it immediately, you start the procedure."

The doctor said, "We need 1 million dollars for this surgery. And above that, you need to pay for medical bills too."

"Arrange for that money and inform me. I will start the procedure.
