There were so many rich and famous ladies in the capital, and her family background was good but there was no telling how many other families were just as good. Still, Old Master Cross had chosen her... Aria knew that there was something fishy going on. There was more to this marriage than the cross family were letting on. Sarah cross did not expect Aria to be so arrogant. His face was livid. Just as she was about to reprimand her, she saw Aria clap her hands and swagger back to her room. With a bang, she closed the door. She was about to reprimand her! Sarah Cross was shocked. She was even angrier now! Meanwhile, Dominic Cross drove to his residence. He usually lived alone in the Spirit Creek Villa, and the number of times he went to the old residence in a year could be counted on one hand. Just as he parked the car, he noticed a drunk woman sitting at the entrance of the villa. The woman was holding a bottle of wine, and her eyes were on the car headlights that had not been turned off. Dominic paused for a moment and got out of the car. "Why are you here?" Mary john saw him and shed tears before she could say anything. "Dominic, why? Why did you agree to marry that woman?" Her tears were like pearls that had lost their thread, falling one after another. Dominic said, "You drank too much." "I didn't drink too much, dominic. You know how I feel about you. I've liked you for fifteen years. You weren't allowed to have other women around you, but you tacitly allowed me to be by your side. I thought that the person who would marry you would definitely be me, but why her? Why did you marry that strange woman, Aria? Could it be that she's younger than me?" Mary john cried her heart out. Ever since she heard that Dominic was going to get married, her father had locked her up at home. He only let her out at night. Dominic silently looked at the woman who was sobbing on the steps. After a long while, he finally said in a hoarse voice, "If you're sober, then leave." "No!" Mary john staggered to her feet. "Lingchen, you don't love that woman. I know you don't love her! I've been by your side for fifteen years. No one understands you better than I do. If you really loved that woman, you wouldn't be here alone. The woman who you let live in the Spirit Creek Villa is the one who has your approval. Dominic, are you going through something you're not telling me about? It was the Cross family who forced you to marry that woman, wasn't it?" Dominic could not answer this question. He had not been forced into this marriage. This was a fair and just exchange. If he wanted to get what he wanted from his father, he had to marry Aria. Dominic said, "You drank too much. I'll get the someone to send you home." When someone from the John family came over, Dominic watched them escort Mary John into the car before turning around to open the villa's door. Too many things had happened today. He now had a headache. After taking a simple shower, he flipped through the documents he had gotten from his father. He did not know if he had done the right thing by marrying a girl he did not know for the sake of this information. But when he thought about the benefits the Bennett family had gained from this marriage, Dominic looked past it. "We're just using each other to get what we want." The next morning, Aria slept soundly on the big bed all by herself until she was woken up by a servant knocking on the door. She rubbed her eyes, washed up, and went downstairs. Sarah looked at her and said mockingly, "You come from a small family and you don't live by any rules. You just married into the family and you're already sleeping in, making the whole family wait for you." Aria was not angry. She looked at the clock on the wall. It was not even seven o'clock yet. She smiled and said, "Yes, the Crossi family is the most disciplined. I have to learn from them." For some reason, Aria was being very obedient. However, Sarah still felt that something was wrong. Yet, she could not put her finger on what it was. "Hmph, I really don't understand how a person like you married into the Cross family. You are so different from Mary." Edward Cross coughed and gestured to his wife to stop talking. "Aria has just joined the Cross family. She doesn't understand many of the rules. As her sister-in-law, you can slowly teach them to her." "I don't have time to teach her." Sarah did not look at Aria who was quietly sitting in her seat. "In the future, if anyone introduces a woman like that to my son, I'll kill myself in front of him." "Enough." Edward Cross was not a fool. He knew that Aria was dissatisfied with the wife that he and his father had found for Dominic. He pulled a long face. "You're only Dominic's sister-in-law. You have no right to interfere in Dominic's marriage. Don't say such things in the futuree." Old Master Cross slowly made his way downstairs. "What are you arguing about so early in the morning?"
