Old Master Cross would not really hit his grandson with the walking stick. He was just putting on an act to scare Dennis. He calmed down and explained what had happened to the confused crowd. Dennis had asked him for money early in the morning. He had asked for too much, so he did not give it to him. In the end, this unfilial grandson had used his favorite blue and white porcelain vase as a threat. Dennis had threatened to smash the vase if he did not get the money.

Old Master Cross could not bear to see his precious vase in the hands of his grandson. He was so frightened that he had agreed to Dennis’s request with wide eyes.
