“Come on, you know you feel the same thing I feel,” he said as he got off me and lay beside me.
“I do, but isn’t marriage a stretch?” I said as I sat up then looked at me.
He looked at me with this puppy face as he spoke. “Yes it is, but I know we are fated to each other. I believe the moon goddess sent me to your doorstep,” he said with a smile.
“Well, I think so too,” I said, taking a deep breath.
“So what are we waiting for?” he asked me with his eyes glistening, waiting for my reply.
I paused before I finally looked at him and replied to him. “… alright, fine, I’ll marry you,”
“Yes!!” he said as he jumped up then sat back down to kiss me. We continued to kiss each other and enjoyed the rest of the night.
I knew the whole marriage idea was hasty and he had changed my perception of werewolves totally but I couldn’t deny what I felt for him and I also couldn’t allow my past to take away this newly found joy that I felt.
The next morning came and I woke up on my bed cuddled up with Connor. I couldn’t believe that the lonely life that I had been living had turned into one that I had a companion.
I gently removed his arm that was on top of me and stood up from the bed to the bathroom. I took a pee and brushed my teeth because I didn’t want Connor to wake up and meet my bad breath.
As I looked at my mirror, I couldn’t help but smile thinking about the night Connor and I shared. Life was finally smiling at me now.
I heard grunts and yawns indicating Connor had woken up.
“Where are you Anna?” he asked out loud.
“In the bathroom dear,” I screamed as I removed the toothbrush from my teeth.
He walked into the bathroom limping and hugged me from behind. He kissed me on my cheek and smiled brightly.
“Trust your night was fine?” he asked as he released his hold from me.
I turned around to face him and smiled at him. “Yes love, how was yours?” I asked him, wrapping my arms over his head and shoulder.
He held me by my waist and started swinging me side to side slowly as though we were doing a slow dance. “You know the answer already. It was the best night I have ever had since I was born,”
“You’re such a flirt,” I giggled, then he placed his lip on mine.
“I have to go out to the border of the forest to see if our journey to Mystic where my pack is, is safe for passing,” He said as he released his hold of me.
“Alright, my love. Be safe, okay. Let me go prepare our breakfast,” I said as I walked out of the bathroom to the kitchen.
As he showered, I prepared some beans and rice for both of us to enjoy. I cooked the food with so much love and hapCrystiass that I could tell this was the best meal that I had ever prepared.
The aroma filled the entire cabin and I could only feel proud of what I had prepared.
“Ouu, beans, and rice, how do you know it’s my favorite?” he said as he walked into the kitchen, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
“You liar, you know it’s not your favorite meal, you are just saying so to make me happy,” I said, rolling my eyes with a slight giggle.
“The thing is anything made by you is my favorite,” he said with a warm smile.
I couldn’t say anything but smile at him because at that moment I felt so blessed and happy that the moon goddess had helped me fill the void of the loneliness that I had felt.
We both settled down and began to dig into our food. As we continued to eat and engaged in some conversations, a knock on my wooden front door caught our attention.
“I thought only you stayed here. What if it’s my enemies?” Connor asked with sweat beads formed in his forehead hinting at his state of panic.
“Relax, just go to the bathroom and hide while I see who’s there,” I said as I rubbed his back trying to calm him down.
He took a deep breath and went into the bathroom. I went to the door and with courage, I yanked the door open to see my childhood nanny, Nancy.
“Nanny!!!” I screamed as I hugged her tightly. “You can come out Connor,” I shouted out loud and continued hugging my nanny.
“How are you, my dear? I just came for my monthly visits,” she said as she pulled my two cheeks as if I were still a child.
Connor then came out and I noticed Nancy widen her eyes after seeing him. “Good morning ma’am, my name is Connor,” he said as he stretched his hand to shake hers.
“Good morning dear, nice to meet you,” she said as she placed her other hand on top of his.
I offered her a seat and she sat down. “Connor, this is the old friend I said that had helped me all this time,”
“Oh really? Thank you for helping Anna out,” he said with a warm smile. “Alright, I’ll have to take my leave now. Goodbye ma’am, bye Anna,” he said as he hugged me and took his leave.
I kept on smiling after his departure and I met Nanny looking at me with a straight face.
“What’s wrong, nanny?” I asked her with my brows furrowed wondering about the change in her attitude.
She looked at me and invited me to sit beside her on the wooden chair. “How did you find William’s son?” she asked me with an eyebrow raised.
“William? The famous alpha that father had burnt him on a stake when I was little?” I asked surprisingly.
“Yes dear, that same William. That’s his son,” She blurted out, making my stomach cave in.
“What? Nanny now isn’t the time for jokes,”
“Do I look like I’m joking?” she asked me, looking at me dead in the eye.
“Oh my God, he mentioned that his father was killed by a ruthless alpha. Does that mean his father was killed by my father?” I asked with my face mortified by the discovery of this truth.
“Sadly yes, he was killed by your father, Silas,” she said.
“And how do you know this?” I asked her, trying to confirm her source of information.
“I’ve met him before and his father kept talking about his son Connor before he was finally burnt,” she said.
“No, this can’t be! Must my evil father always find a way to ruin my life?? Must he always make life unbearable for me?” I lamented as I fell to the floor in tears.
“Did you reveal the identity of your father to Connor?” she asked me as she patted my shoulder.
“No I didn’t, Thankfully I lied to him that I was an orphan,” I said as I wiped my tears with the sleeve of my top.
“You will have to send Connor out of your cabin dear,” she said with a concerned face.
“Send Connor out of my cabin? Nanny no! I am going to follow Connor to his pack and get married to him after. I am not going to let my father ruin my life anymore,” I argued.
“Getting married to him? How long has this man been in your life? The moment he finds out your true identity he might even kill you to spite your father,” She argued with me trying to convince me to send him out.
“When I met him, is no one’s business and if he decides to kill me then so be it!” I stood up and tapped my feet on the ground.
“Well I can’t force you to make a decision but all I hope for is that the truth of your identity doesn’t cost you your relationship. It’s better to end it now before it costs you more,” she said after realizing she had no other excuse to convince me.
“Nanny, I've been living life in this cabin lonely till the moon goddess brought him to my doorstep and I will not allow Silas, my father, to take this gift away from me!”
“Alright dear, just remain careful. So you are moving to Mystic now?” she asked me, changing the topic
“Yes I am, and I’m happy about it,”
“Okay dear,” she said.
The room fell silent till she finally decided to take her leave.
“I’ll come to visit you one of these days at Mystic,” she said as I opened the door walking her out of the cabin.
“Alright nanny,” I said, hugging her.
“Goodbye Anna,” she said as she waved me goodbye and walked through the thick forest
“Bye nanny,” I said then entered the cabin.
I spent the remaining minutes waiting for Connor and when he came back, we packed our things, and in no time we set off our journey to Mystic. Soon enough we got there and we were welcomed by so many people.
They all celebrated his arrival since they were worried about his disappearance. I hid my sadness about what nanny had told me back at the cabin with a smile.
He introduced me to everyone as his soon to be wife and they all welcomed me warmly.
“One last person I would like to introduce you to love,”
“Oh, who is that?”
“My beta that’s also my best friend,” he said with a smile. “Come out Angus,”
“Angus?” I said to myself as the name rang a bell in my head. Immediately a part of my past walked up to us and the both of us stared at each other in shock.
There he was Angus the man that rejected me as his mate.
