Another amazing day?

1522 Words
18th July, 1340 Her birthday had been amazing at the beginning of the actual day, underwhelming and intoxicating in the middle but turned out perfect in the end. She had spent the night with Jon and had the promise of spending the entirety of the next day together on her mind, she slept like a baby and that was all they did that night. They shared the same bed and fell asleep together but did nothing more than just sleep to Elle’s surprise. She was beginning to doubt his well spoken and well known reputation as a lady’s man. She also believed now that he had actually moved on from that life, a part of her had other less savory thoughts beginning to take form. Her birthday had fallen on a Friday which had been quite a stroke of fortune for her, it had passed and now she had the next day being the 18th and happened to be a Saturday, another stroke of good luck. They had spent the entire morning making cakes and frying strips of meat in lard together and to her absolute surprise Jon was an excellent cook. The only reason she was this good herself was because she had taken a liking to cooking, now that she thought about it he was definitely a better cook than both her sisters. The ate a delicious breakfast together and while Jon had wine, Elle had been banned from touching any wine for the rest of the day by him thanks to her getting totally drunk the previous day. She didn’t complain or argue and stuck to drinking water. They spent the time after breakfast together at the inn sharing stories with all their friends and dancing for a while, the birthday had passed but their group of friends was definitely not done celebrating yet and it made Elle even happier to see just how happy everyone was and just how much fun they were still having. She didn’t want to leave the inn and their friends didn’t want her to leave either. Jon had other plans and didn’t want to spend time discussing it with her and everyone else so he did the most surprising thing; he took her on his shoulders and literally carried her out the inn on his shoulders. It got everyone cheering and applauding as they left the inn and left Ferran in charge of the rest of the celebrations. Jon was spending a lot of money to celebrate Elle’s birthday and make it as memorable to everyone as one of the city’s festivals and he was doing a wonderful job, Ferran enjoyed being in charge of the money and making sure the wine kept flowing for everyone at the inn, he was getting attention especially from the young ladies and the young man named Ferran enjoyed such attention as much as he liked drinking and gambling. He and Jon had very few similarities and Elle was sure that was why they got along so well, they had the sort of friendship most people would be envious of. Jon and Elle had left their friends behind and gone a little distance from the Inn before he let her down gently. He wanted to be alone with her for the rest of the day and he was getting it now. They walked all the way to the stables at the far side of the commoner’s district before he introduced her to Bernard. Bernard was his horse that he had left at the stables to be groomed immediately he got back from his journey yesterday. He found out then that Elle had no experience riding a horse. He promised to teach her when they had more time before saddling the horse and mounting it. He pulled her up to seat in front of him before riding Bernard through the street and past the line of houses on that side of the city. In no time they were behind the houses and on the field of grass found only on the outer ring of the city. The fields of grasses between the buildings and the city’s main wall were another reason Alicia was considered the most beautiful city on the continent. Most cities only had streets of stone and buildings’ filling up the space; Alicia was different and allowed to have elements of nature within its walls. The canals of water flowing through the entire city including the middle and inner rings were just another reason Alicia looked much more beautiful than most cities. Jon got Bernard to gallop across the field of grass for a short distance so Elle could feel the thrill that came with riding an actual horse before easing of the reigns and bringing his horse to a halt next to one of the artificially made water ways. Elle could now see why he wanted her out of the Inn earlier, he had arranged a meal for them on the grass by the canal, and it was a beautiful setting that got Elle thinking just how good Jon must have been at being a lady’s man in the past. She got of the horse with Jon’s help and Jon got off as well before taking the saddle of Bernard and letting him walk freely and graze freely on the field of grass surrounding them at the moment. They shared a wonderful meal there and had another memorable time in each other’s company. After their meal a small boat was paddled along the canal by a young man and came to a stop at the exact spot where Jon and Elle had stopped to have a meal. It was already getting late now when Jon got up from the grass and took Elle’s hand in his and led her to the small boat. She got in and he followed her. The young man who had been in the boat knew what he was to do; he got out and handed the paddle over to Jon. “Take care of my horse and clean up, you’ll get paid tomorrow morning when you meet Ferran.” Jon said waving off the young man before he began paddling the boat down the canal towards the part of the city where the line of buildings next to the fountain and the town square were. They were heading back to the living area of the commoners district using the boat on the canal and Elle put the pieces together and came to concluded that this had all been planned by Jon from the beginning. He had planned every single activity they did today and had been a thoughtful companion the entire time. She found herself staring at him from her position at the front of the boat with a smile on her face while he paddled the boat from the end. He looked down and found her staring at him with that smile on her face. “Why are you looking at me that way.” He asked with a soft laugh that only made her want to get up and move towards him. “I appreciate all you have done for me to make this birthday amazing for me, you are amazing Jon Terra.” Elle said giving him the most honest thank you she had said to anyone in years. “You left the palace to spend your day with commoners in the most unsophisticated part of the city; you are equally amazing my lady.” Jon said with a smile on that handsome face of his and his eyes locked on hers. They went along the canal slowly lost in each other’s eyes for minutes without saying a word. They got to the living area of the city in no time and tied the boat at the little dock at the edge of the line of buildings before getting off and walking back to Jon’s place hand in hand. It was already sunset and the day was already ending but Elle knew she would not have changed any second of how the day went for any reason at all. It had been a splendid day. They were back at Jon’s simple home after a wonderful day together. The day had been a long one filled with way more intense moments than Elle could have imagined, but now that she was back at home with him, she felt it could get even more intense. She had asked Jon for wine and he had finally succumbed to all her begging all day long. He allowed her to have just one cup while he went to his room to take off his jacket and find a simple shirt to put on. None of them expected how the rest of the night was about to go. It was not something anyone would expect or plan after having such a day. It happened quickly and simply spiraled from there, there was nothing Jon could do to stop it, there was nothing Elle could do to stop it and there was perhaps nothing anyone could have done to stop it once it started.
