Abbie's POV Lucian remained silent, offering no real answer. His chiseled face was like a mask, unreadable and still as stone. His reaction made me feel a strange, creeping anxiety. He was at the most critical stage of severing his Mate Bond with Nadia. So, the last thing I could afford was to start a fight with him. But I still felt the need to test him, to see exactly where his boundaries lay. "Lucian, please just stay," I pleaded, pulling his hand. "I just want to be with you a little longer. Just this once, OK?" His expression remained cold, a subtle flicker of impatience crossing his eyes, and I didn't miss it. "Why do you insist on making me spend the night here with you? If the Council finds out, it'll be a disaster for you. I'm an Alpha, so I don't have much to worry about
