Chapter 4 Alpha's Mercy

As the days go by, Lily's life in the wolf pack's territory is filled with both novelty and unease. Her adventures in the kitchen in the middle of the night have reached the ears of Alpha and Luna.

One day, as the sunlight floods the packhouse square and the wolves go about their business, Lily observes silently from her corner, wondering about her future.

Suddenly, there was a sound of footsteps and the whole square was quiet, Lily looked up and saw Alpha and Luna walking towards her, Alpha was tall and had an unquestionable majesty in his eyes, while Luna was elegant and mysterious with a hint of gentleness in her gaze.

Lily bowed her head nervously, not daring to look them in the eye.

Alpha stopped his footsteps, looked at Lily, and said after a moment of silence, “After our deliberation, we have decided to take you in.” His voice was cold and serious, without a hint of emotional fluctuation.

Lily's heart was first pleasantly surprised, but seeing Alpha and Luna's cold expressions, she felt a trace of uneasiness.

“Thank you ...... thank you.” Lily said timidly.

Luna nodded slightly and said, “But you have to remember that there are rules here that you have to follow.”

Lily hastily nodded her head and said she would obey.

Since then, although Lily had a temporary place to stay, she could always sense that Alpha and Luna were very cold towards her. She couldn't understand why they were willing to take her in, yet acted so coldly.

In her daily life, Lily was always careful not to do anything wrong that might upset them. She struggled to adapt to the wolves' way of life, learning their rules and customs.

Whenever she saw Alpha and Luna pass by, she would greet them politely, but the response was often a faint nod or simply ignored.

Once, Lily was in danger in the forest and was attacked by a ferocious beast. She desperately called out for help, but Alpha passed by, and without hesitation, Alpha came to her aid, easily fending off the beast. But after this, Alpha did not say a word of comfort to Lily, but just gave her a cold look and turned away.

Lily felt very lost, she didn't understand why Alpha had saved her but was unwilling to show any concern for her.

At night, Lily lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. She looked out the window at the starry sky, filled with doubt and loneliness.

“Did they just take pity on me and take me in?” Lily muttered to herself.

Just then, she heard a low conversation coming from outside. She quietly got up and moved closer to the window and heard it was Alpha and Luna discussing something about her.

“The child's origins are unknown, taking her in could lead to trouble.” Alpha said.

“But she is young after all, and she doesn't seem to mean any harm.” Luna responded.

“I hope our decision doesn't spell disaster for the wolves.” Alpha sighed.

Lily then realized that Alpha and Luna's indifference towards her was out of concern for the wolves.

Since then, Lily has been working even harder to prove her worth, helping the wolves gather food, taking care of her injured companions, and trying to learn fighting skills. She hopes that one day she will be recognized and accepted by Alpha and Luna, and become an indispensable member of the pack.

In the process, the werewolf power in Lily's body continues to grow and awaken, and perhaps one day in the future, this power will become the key to changing her destiny.
