BEFORE THE CHASE The wild grew up to be friends with the moon. Both harnessed their powers together to protect the wild and the children of the moon. Three days before the great spirit moon, the moon merged the souls of the only surviving wolf after the blood war and the soul of the man who adored wolves. The man was in peril watching all the wolves he loved die due to hunger, the draught was much after the war. He was struggling to feed himself let alone feed a wolf that had a huge appetite. Her attempt nearly failed as the product of her transmutation was struggling to control himself. The two souls in one body, the beast and the human were constantly fighting each other for who to take over resulting in a near death case. The moon blessed the first full moon after she completed the transmutation and called it "the great spirit moon" as it was the day that the two souls became one after receiving the light of the moon. The first werewolf howled at the spirit moon to acknowledge his master, the goddess of the moon. Seeing that she saved the wolf lineage and the human existence, Artemis took to Selene and both worked together to create a better space for the existence of werewolves. Artemis blessed the wild and grew her wild animals to provide meat for the first wolf while Selene protected her creation and regularly visited the human realm. He was in his human form taking his bath in a stream in the dark forest when the moon appeared lighting up the dark corners of the dense forest. When he saw the moon, he was both astonished for he knew the next full moon was in five days time and delighted because the goddess was once again blessing her creation. Then out of the bright silver moon descended a tall beauty covered in the bright dome of the moon. Her sacred features distinguished her from the world and proved the fact that she is a goddess. It was the first day of seeing his maker and he couldn't contend his joy. He stood from the water and howled at the moon. Selene let out a smile as she watched her creation glow under her light. "You look well my child." Her voice was soft and melodious that resonated gently through the leaves around them and chilled the water that was barely reaching his waist. She was still right above him that he had to tilt his head backwards to stare into the bright flawless face of the goddess. "I have found pleasure in the forest and my other soul listens to me. Granting me power and strength of ten men." He replied as he lapped the water onto his bare shoulders. "The forest provides daily for me." He continued. "The waters are always ready to welcome me and the grass and leaves dance when they see me. I shall look well with this, glowing under nature's beauty." He smiled but suddenly stopped when he remembered the very one thing he lacked. Selene knew his mind so she gave him time to say it out, the way he wanted to. "But my body bleeds with hunger. My body weeps for companionship. My human soul wants a companion and my wolf soul wants it more." "In a far away land in the town of Aremoth, beautiful women lives. I shall take one and make her your mate. I shall create a soul bond that will forever bind her to you and make her loyal to you. She shall bear your children and you shall expand and fill the forest, the valleys and every part of the universe, extending the werewolf lineage." He smiled and revealed his canines that had meat bits stuck in between the gaps. "You will do that for me?" His joy knew no bounds. He wanted to jump to the moon and thank Selene. Selene only smiles but she remembered something else. "But..." Selene began, interrupting his moment of joy and appreciation. "I shall make some rules for this to come to pass." "I am willing to abide by you. You have given me life when I should have died of starvation and blessed me with great power. I shall remain loyal to you and forever reverence the moon." He bowed. "Artemis kept the forest for you and provided you food. The wild deer and the white fox are her most beloved. Keep away from it." "I shall do as you said. How do I appreciate the wild?" "On the night of the hunter's moon, you shall sacrifice a wild deer and a white fox to her. Do not hunt these animals for meat, they are dear to her." She stressed her last words for emphasis. " "I shall reverence her with that." As he expanded his family from one wife whom Selene also made a wolf, to pups and they continued growing. The moon made rules for them which governed their lives and taught them what to do and how to live in the territory of Artemis, the kind hearted lover of the wild. Treachery grew within the pack as they grew and the first wolf couldn't control the whole pack of wolves he had birthed as he was getting old and tired. His generation tasted the forbidden fruit and desecrated the sacredness of Artemis. They hunted and killed the wild deer and the white fox. Greed set in when they savoured the taste of this rare animals and they began to go out of control, seeking for more of this meat. Artemis was infuriated that she incited the dangerous wild animals against the wolves and a war broke out as a result of this. Another blood war between the wild animals and the wolves. When Selene saw her creation was dying, she pleaded with Artemis to spare her children. "Teach them the right ways or I shall wipe them out of the surface of the earth." Artemis fumed. Selene paid the survivors of her creation a visit and rebuked them for disobeying the law even their ancestors kept. Her heart was heavy when she saw the corpse of her first creation, the first man that proved to her that her transmutation was successful. The first man that proved she could defy the law of nature. "You treacherous generation!!!" Her once soothing voice reverberated in the forest and shook the trees, caused a loud earthquake and shook the werewolves assembled before her that they lost their balance and fell. Because of this, she divided the packs and ordered them to go their separate ways while strictly adhering to the rules wherever they are. This resulted to the existence of multi-packs in and out of the land of Aremoth. To keep them in check, she allowed the existence of other supernaturals. Hades the god of darkness birthed other dark creatures because he was jealous of Selene's creation but Selene chose not to fight their existence otherwise she would have wiped out the vampires at their early stage, the blood sucking leeches. When Selene saw the vampires and other night creatures of Hades were becoming more of a threat than a check to her creation, she built a strong barrier of protection around every of her creation and their dwellings. An invisible covering blessed by the moon which expels every night creature of Hades. In the long run, they knew peace for two long centuries and Artemis favoured the wolves once again. In the third century after the seventh, a thousandth from the day Selene made her first creation, the sacred animals of Artemis was hunted again. This time Artemis rode on her reindeer to Selene's chambers across the golden bridge in the clouds. It was circled by moons given off its natural bright light to her golden chambers. Artemis pushed in and stood face to to face with Selene who was braiding her long silver hair. Thick fogs were covering the outskirts of the golden house and even up to the chambers of both Artemis and other goddesses but out of it all, Selene's chambers was the most admired, being the eldest and fairest. "I shall strike your children with Lunapeste this time!" Artemis roared. "You will do no such thing Artemis!" Selene stood abruptly and hit her foot angrily against the golden floor, quaking the entirety of the building. "They are desecrating me once again! If you can't control their savagery, I shall inflict them!" Selene now understood what Artemis was saying. THE WOLVES WERE DESECRATING ARTEMIS ONCE AGAIN. But in order to be sure, she waved at the wall beside her and it revealed a wolf eating a wild deer raw. "Sacred meat tastes good." The wolf purred but his purrs were only interpreted by Selene. "He went berserk. Something is wrong Artemis. Let me look into this!" Selene became tense now, seeing that history might repeat itself. "This was not what I expected. I shall kill them this time. I shall watch them slowly wither away with this disease." "Please Artemis, let me look into this." Artemis glared at her and for the first time, Selene saw the wicked fury in her eyes. She bolted out of Selene's chambers and rode back to hers in her reindeer. Selene paced up and down her room thinking of the best possible way to punish her creation and make them never to desecrate Artemis ever. If she chooses compassion, it might strain her relationship with Artemis. "No. I shall teach them the hard way. I won't visit them to talk to them again. They will suffer the perils I've always shielded them from." At that instant, Selene rode the moon to Artemis chambers and gently walked in. Her heels barely touched the floor and her presence carried an air of warmth which nourished the flowers in Artemis chambers and caused them to blossom the more. "What do you wish to do?" Selene asked calmly. She dreaded strained relationships and did not wish to have one with any of the goddesses. "I wish to wipe them away. I do not want to see them again." Artemis was tending to her flowers on one side while her animals were gathered around her feeding from her other hand. "Give me twenty lunar cycles. I have chosen to teach them the hard way." Selene said. It was a tough decision and it is going to be tough fulfilling it but it will be worth it if this brings back serenity, just the way it has always been. "They have chosen to disrespect me. No amount of punishment apart from death will teach them a lesson. "They are my creation and I know their weaknesses and with it I shall perform a lasting strong alchemy on them." Selene turned sideways and revealed the face of the wild flower in a harsh environment. "I will use her to perform the alchemy. With her I shall start my alchemy from the alpha and she shall change my creation forever." "She is just a weak girl. How can she face their savagery?" Artemis was displeased and tried to remonstrate the idea. The wild flower is one of her ardent worshippers, cherishing her existence and reverencing her sacredness. "I do not want to put her in danger. Do not use her." "Mates don't hurt each other Artemis, I made it that way otherwise the mate bond will kill." "That is if they agree to be mates." Artemis rolled her eyes at her. "This is the only way. I will strive to keep her safe and make sure the alchemy works. Raven will take her as his mate. I just hope they will change. I hope the wild flower will succeed even in their domain." "If anything happens to her Selene, I will hold you responsible." Artemis threatened. "She is more stronger than you think Artemis. She has a brave soul. Born on the great spirit moon day in the wild. She is the only one fit for this mission." Artemis hesitated, then exhaled. "Then twenty lunar cycles it is. If it fails, I will put an end to the wolves in and out of Aremoth." Artemis finally agreed and Selene nodded. It is time to perform this alchemy, an arduous task that involved risks that she knew will involve the night but it is the only way to teach her creation a lesson. She lifts her barrier of protection on her creation willing them to survive on their own. She turns to the wild flower and smiles. "I hereby fate you as a mate to the alpha of North Aremoth wolves, alpha Raven."
