“Who is it?” Charles immediately saw her expression change and quickly asked.
“It’s me, my mom,” Elena said with a shaky voice.
She had actually gotten married without telling her family. She not only got married, but they had done everything that they had promised her parents they wouldn’t. She had no idea how she was going to explain it to her family.
“Let me answer the phone.” Charles took the phone out of her hand.
If the Hayes family needed to vent their anger, he’d rather be the one to deal with it than Elena.
“No! I’ll do it myself!” Elena hurried to take the phone away from him.
She thought the same as he did. If her parents were going to scold someone, she wanted it to be her.
Elena answered the phone, she spoke quietly, “Mom…”
