Chapter 11- Where’s the Evidence

1161 Words
The seniors didn't have a lot of courses. Elena originally planned to go to the library to prepare a thesis, but she was stopped by Winnie who had just come in. "Elena, stay!" Winnie said quickly. "What's wrong?" Elena was confused. "No!" Winnie thought a while and said again, "You'd better move out of the dorm for a while!" Elena looked at her and said, "So, am I going out, or am I staying?" "Go out!" Winnie pulled her back to the dormitory and said, "Pack your things now!" "Wait a second!" Elena said, "Tell me what happened." "It's Maggie!" Winnie gritted her teeth, "We should've let her rest in peace yesterday!" "What happened? What's with Maggie?" Elena asked. "It was Maggie who deliberately broke your dress yesterday in the preliminary selection!" Winnie said angrily, "She sent the photo of the moment your dress fell off onto the campus forum and told everyone that you deliberately undressed yourself to seduce the photographer! " She continued, "She also took a sneaky shot of you in the coat and said you did not wear anything under it, and that you slept with someone in order to pass the preliminary selection! Although she blurred your face in those photos, it wasn’t enough! You can see it is you!" Elena quickly took out her mobile phone and logged into the campus forum. That post had been very popular, and the replies in that thread were all disgusting. Elena just paid a look and her whole body was shaking. She never knew that people could be such immoral monsters. It seemed that Maggie did break her dress yesterday because the one who posted on the campus forum must be her schoolmate. "Let's go find her!" Elena gnashed her teeth. "No, Elena." Winnie hurriedly said, "Selene asked for help from a friend in the computer science major and found out the person who posted the message was not Maggie, but a journalism student. It is said that he usually likes to send these false and exaggerated messages to attract attention. But those pictures of you must have been provided by Maggie!" "Then I really should go find her now! People will believe what she said if I hide!" Elena said with a straight face, "She slandered me so much, why should I let her go?" "But what if she denies it?" Winnie asked, "She could even brain-wash people by saying you confessed to what you did." "Now no one will believe me whether I choose to clarify or hide." Elena said, "I got nothing to lose. Even if things get too big, I will at least drag Maggie into this thing!" "You are right!" Winnie immediately changed her mind, "We can’t let her be in the downwind position all the time. Let's hit her first!" After Elena heard this rumor, she went straight to the school building to find her. Maggie was taking an elective course there. Elena did not want to drag Winnie into this, because the damage would probably extend to her, but Winnie had to come with her. They got to the school during break, the second lesson had not begun yet. Many students went out for air and some stayed in the classroom to talk. With a quick glance, Elena saw Maggie in the classroom and walked towards her emotionlessly. Maggie was laughing and talking to Kevin. Kevin suddenly looked up and his expression changed instantly. He wanted to run and hide. Maggie also saw Elena and her face changed lightly, but she quickly became calm. Maggie pulled Kevin's sleeve hard. Kevin was still sitting there, but his posture was appearing that he was ready to run anytime. "Maggie." Elena's cold said, "When I was in the studio yesterday, you did something to my dress and humiliated me in public! But then you still snuck a shot of me and fabricated false story about me, with the help of a student of the journalism department, trying to destroy my reputation! Why are you so disrespectful?" "Elena, I don't know what you are talking about!" Maggie sneered, "You can so easily accuse me of these things. Do you have any evidence?" "I don't need evidence." Elena sighed, "I just came to inform you. Delete the post immediately and post an apology thread to me!" "What's wrong with you? Why should I?" Maggie glared at her. "You refuse?" Elena raised an eyebrow. "Of course, I refuse!" Maggie yelled, "Elena, you need to pull yourself together and think it through! That post did not mention the one in the photo was you, what's the attitude about?" "You said you don't know what Elena is talking out, right?" Winnie sneered, "How come you suddenly know about the content of that post so clearly?" "Give me a break. That post was so popular, so it's natural everyone knows what happened!" Maggie glanced at them with a scornful look, "And I did show someone some respect because I did not disclose the name of that heroine!" "Maggie, don't say I didn't give you a chance." Elena took out the phone unsympathetically and said, "Maybe we should get the police to play with us." "Oh, Elena, do you think the police will care about that little thing of yours?" Maggie snorted. "Maggie, the police are not as useless as you think." Elena said coldly, "The number of hits of that post has exceeded 5,000. And with what you did to my dress, your post is subjective and malicious. You clearly knew the content is wrong and deliberately released it. I will sue your journalism major friend for libel action. Do you believe he will protect you when facing the jury?" Maggie's face suddenly got very panicky. She said with a guilty conscience, "Stop, stop bluffing already!" “You are really an i***t when it comes to law! I'm afraid even a vampire won't suck your blood because they don't want to be infected by your inferior IQ-gene and become senseless!" Elena sneered, "You think I'm bluffing? Do you think your boyfriend here will think I'm bluffing?" Maggie looked at Kevin and saw him nod at what Elena said out fear. "O—OK! Now you just go ahead and sue me! You took off your dress by yourself to seduce people. Why would you say I did something to your dress?" Maggie struggled, "I want to sue you for libel too! Let's see who is afraid!" Elena turned on a poker face. There was no meaning to continue the conversation anymore. She unlocked the phone screen and was about to call the police. Before she dialed on the phone screen, a group of policemen came in from the classroom door. The classroom had been silent since Elena arrived and now watching the police come in, no one dared to make a sound. "Who is Maggie?" the police asked. Everyone looked at Maggie, like watching a caged animal.
