On a bright morning, I felt exhausted, as if I had been tirelessly working in my dreams. Although I still longed for more sleep, hunger nagged at me. I reluctantly got up and decided to satisfy my craving with some junk food.
As I pondered what to eat, a quiet voice in my mind reminded me to check on Noah in his room. It had been a while since we had gone out together, and his company always made me forget that I was an orphan.
I searched his room but found it empty. Panic set in as I realized he wasn't anywhere in the house. The fear grew within me, knowing the risks associated with his line of work.
With a surge of determination, I stepped outside the house. There, I spotted Noah engrossed in his work, tinkering with his tools. I took a deep breath, overwhelmed with joy every time I laid eyes on him. He had a special nickname for me - "my sunrise."
His words always made me feel happy and cherished. He mentioned checking up on me in my room earlier but decided to let me rest when he saw me sleeping. I looked into his eyes and thanked him.
"Noah, you're always welcome," I replied, a smile spreading across my face.
I turned my attention back to cooking, wanting to prepare a delightful breakfast for both of us. Noah called out my name, "Amelia, you're always welcome, my sunrise."
My smile widened.
I had never met anyone as caring and kind as Noah, and I was grateful to have him by my side. He helped me navigate through every challenge I faced.
As I prepared some pasta for our breakfast, I couldn't help but think about my only boyfriend and husband, Noah. I mentioned my plan to join the University of Werewolf Slayers today, realizing I had forgotten amidst the chaos of the morning.
"No worries," he reassured me. "You can still learn something since the day isn't over."
Relieved, I agreed and emphasized that we should eat first. Noah asked hesitantly, "Are you cooking?" I replied with a confident "yes."
He smirked and said, "I hope it's not that... umm." I interrupted him with a playful "No," and we both burst into laughter.
That day, I stumbled upon a recipe in a food magazine and decided to surprise Noah by cooking it. To my delight, I found all the necessary ingredients in his kitchen. I followed the instructions carefully, but a mishap occurred.
I realized I had taken the wrong steps, and everything turned into a disaster. The dish I intended to make was pizza, but it ended up ruined.
When Noah returned, he noticed my change in mood and called me "My Sunrise." He wondered why I hadn't greeted him as usual when he arrived home. I directed him to the kitchen, where he discovered the disastrous outcome of my cooking experiment. Surprisingly, he burst into laughter.
Confused, I entered the kitchen and asked him what was so funny. He questioned my intentions, and I explained that I wanted to surprise him with a homemade pizza.
In response, he gently told me that I was excellent at cooking pasta and if I wanted to learn to make pizza, he could arrange for a professional chef to teach me. I smiled, touched by his thoughtfulness.
We shifted our attention to the pasta I had been cooking, which was now ready to eat. I served him a plate and prepared one for myself as well.
While we ate, Noah mentioned having a story to tell me. I jokingly asked if it was another fairytale about beings I had never encountered before.
"No," he replied. Intrigued, I explained how I loved his stories about vampires, werewolves, and fairies, but was excited to hear something different this time.
He gazed into my eyes and said, "All the stories I've told you have revealed the weaknesses and strengths of those beings because soon, you will encounter most of them."
Curiosity piqued, I eagerly awaited the story he promised.
He began recounting an incident when a girl had embarrassed him. I couldn't help but burst into laughter, finding it somewhat amusing. I asked him to explain what had happened.
He described how one day, while heading to the mall, he ran into one of his classmates. Wanting to greet her with a hug, he called out her name. However, her response left him humiliated. She scornfully refused his hug, calling him a "b***h" and mocking his role as a werewolf slayer. Her words cut deep, and I was at a loss for a suitable response.
In my anger, I decided to follow her out of the mall and stumbled upon her boyfriend, Jacob. Intrigued, I inquired about Jacob's identity.
Noah informed me that Jacob was a confirmed vampire who attacked humans to drink their blood. I interjected, recalling from my readings that some vampires preferred animal blood over human blood.
Noah explained that while some vampires refrained from harming humans and settled for animal blood, they were generally weaker compared to those who drank human blood. Vampires consuming human blood were known to be more evil and struggled to control themselves around humans. However, those who consumed animal blood had better control.
Noah revealed that Jacob had once attacked him. Fortunately, Noah had been equipped with his wolf band, bow and arrow, and managed to defend himself. Jacob fled in fear.
"My sunrise, let's eat quickly. I will teach you how to become a werewolf slayer, and you'll become proficient in using all these tools," Noah suggested, referring to the items on the table.
Excited, I expressed my eagerness to meet Jacob. Noah asked why, and I confessed my curiosity about him.
While still savoring our meal, Noah called me "Sunrise." I responded with a resounding "yes."
He teased, "I have great news for you. You'll be thrilled when you hear it." I eagerly inquired about the news, but he playfully withheld it for a while.
Anxiously, I persisted in asking, until he finally gave in to my pleading look. He warned me that it was not pleasant news, but I gestured a willingness to hear it anyway.
He explained that he had enrolled me in a high school to further my education. I leaped onto his back, overcome with joy at the prospect of going back to school. At the time, I was around 18 years old, and the thought of meeting new people and making friends excited me. Noah informed me that we would visit the school on Tuesday.
I couldn't contain my happiness; it had been a long time since I had heard such good news.
Noah instructed me to get ready and proceed with the day's activities. I asked him what kind of clothes I should wear, and he jokingly suggested stripper attire, making us both laugh.
He revealed that he had already prepared a dress for me. To my surprise, it wasn't the usual outfit I was accustomed to. I had only seen such clothing in movies, and I expressed my gratitude for owning such attire. Instead of a gown, he gave me a pair of jeans, a black jacket, and white sneakers.
"Do you like it?" he asked. I replied with genuine enthusiasm, "Of course, I love them." Noah suggested we go outside so he could show me his tools and teach me how to use them.
As we stepped out of the house, Noah guided me closer to his array of tools. With a mischievous smile, he jokingly welcomed me to the "University of Werewolf Slayers."
I grinned at his playful remark.
He urged me to pay attention as he began explaining each tool. He held up a plant and introduced it as wolfsbane, a herb that could induce severe fever and weaken werewolves while burning their skin.
Next, he presented a more potent version called Black Wolfsbane, which could easily neutralize any werewolf. He mentioned that the herb's trees were scarce and belonged exclusively to Darius Salvatore and his family.
Noah continued showcasing various items, including the Gilbert Ring worn exclusively by Gilbert men, which provided protection against supernatural beings as long as it was worn. He introduced me to other tools like the Gilbert Device, the Darius Stone Sword, the Sword of Alexandria, the Golden Shears, and Kiatero.
One particular tool caught my attention—the Seraph Blade. Noah explained that it was the primary weapon used by Werewolf Hunters. To activate the blade, one had to call upon the name of a Salvatore, Gibson, or Cruz. The Seraph Blades had a rich history with the werewolf hunters and were known to be effective against their targets.
I absorbed all the information with enthusiasm, impressed by Noah's expertise and grateful for the knowledge he was sharing.
Suddenly, something unexpected happened, shattering the mood and catching me completely off guard. It was a turn of events I hadn't anticipated, and it left me speechless and stunned.
Suspense filled the air as a stranger emerged from the shadows, casting a menacing glance at Noah and me. His presence was ominous, and the chill that ran down my spine warned me that danger loomed.
