Chapter 5 – Abomination

2113 Words
Aurora’s POV “Hurry up!” My body stumbled forward when a pack warrior behind me pushed me to move forward. I gritted my teeth, clenching my fists together as I walked faster with heavy steps. I wasn’t really expecting to be suddenly summoned to the pack grounds. Though the possibility of me getting caught while escaping was quite high, I expected to be at least get punished later if that ever happened. It was only less than an hour before midnight comes. I was supposed to be still staying inside my hut during this hour and wait for the right timing to escape. In fact, I still need to buy time to observe the South-west border to see whether Andrew was really telling me the truth, or I am just putting myself into his trap… probably their trap. But now, I am on my way to face those people who sees me as nothing but an abomination… people I hate the most. “Here she comes!” “Mom, is that her?” “Stay behind me, the witch is here…” My gaze remained straight as I finally stepped on the huge platform in the middle of the pack grounds. I could hear countless of whispers and insults. The looks of disgust and hatred they were throwing towards my form made my skin itch. And my head was buzzing with noisy surrounding. I feel suffocated. It’s been a while since I last stepped a foot here. I should’ve expected this. I should’ve expected this kind of treatment. A couple of months earlier, I have been under this same situation. The looks of disgust, words of insult, and their hatred directed towards me though I haven’t even done something wrong. What should I expect? They see me as an – “She’s an abomination!” Yeah, right. “You’ve finally came,” A tall man approached me. His frame overshadowing my form, but I was able to get myself look straight in his eyes with the same harsh gaze. “What do you want?” I directly spat out at him; my tone full of hostility as I glared at the man who was facing me with a smile full of provocation. I could hear some of the pack members growl after seeing my attitude towards the man in front of me. As far as I can remember, the man who was standing in front of me is named Erik, the gamma of this pack. They might be offended with my approach. But I don’t give a f**k. “Oh?” The asshole only titled his head and remained flashing his annoying ugly smirk. “Chill your butt, the exciting part is still yet to come.” All I need is an explanation as to why I was suddenly summoned here. I can’t lower my guard standing in the middle of this platform, uncertain whether I’ll be suddenly attacked the next seconds or they have planned some tricks behind my back. It was either of the two. “Best of luck,” Erik chuckled before leaving, “but I guess you don’t even have that.” I didn’t bother to spare him a glance as I scanned the whole area. I was like a lamb being presented at a feast full of hungry and mad wolves. My head was buzzing, and my senses were heightened. I was silently preparing myself for anything that might happen any moment from now. “You are not allowed to leave this spot.” One of the pack warriors who was behind me snapped after I tried stepping to the side. I pursed my lips. What did I even expect?! They intend to display the so-called abomination in front of their pack members. I also have a feeling that they matched the timing of the arrival of their guest to reveal my existence. My body shifted uncomfortably when I suddenly felt a strong pair of eyes staring at my whole form. My eyes snapped towards a certain direction but found no one. Strange… I suddenly felt a different presence amongst the crowd, yet I couldn’t trace where it exactly came from. “The Alpha and Luna has arrived!” The loud sound of bell rang after the announcement. I tilted my head, feeling my ears hurt at the strong sound. All the pack members have already bowed their head in submission at the arrival of their so-called leaders. But I froze on my spot when my eyes suddenly locked with those glowing red eyes. Every inch of my skin seems to heat up as I felt my nerves started pulsating due to the bond. My chest throbbed while my breath hitched. He was here. My mate. “You really have the guts to show your disrespect towards our Alpha!” Kaden’s sister, Katy, who came along with them suddenly snarled at me. Yet my attention this time was solely focused on my mate who was standing not too far away from my spot, behind the huge crowd of pack members. At the same time, a huge question swirled in my mind. How come he’s remaining unnoticed by the people around? And why can’t I smell his scent? If it wasn’t for the bond between us, I wouldn’t be able to notice his presence too. “Submit!” Before I knew it, Katy was already lunging forward towards me. If it weren’t for Erik to stop her, I think she would’ve successfully attacked me due to my lack of focus. “Just let the Alpha deal with her. You shouldn’t waste your energy on this bitch.” For a second, I could hear my mate growling from a distance. It was threatening but full of restraint. I could feel his emanating anger and he was just holding himself back. My eyes found his again as I tried to send him a comforting glance. Though there were many questions I wanted to ask him, and I was confused, this wasn’t a perfect timing for it. And I don’t want my mate to make a sudden attack out of anger. Though I have a feeling that his strength is enough to defeat Kaden, he was still inside another pack’s territory and an attack would just put him in a bad state. “You ask why?” This time, I finally snapped my gaze towards Kaden and the others. My voice was low, but I spoke in full conviction. “Because he is not my Alpha." After saying that, the whole pack suddenly went into an uproar. “b***h!” Katty lunged towards me. I didn’t flinch, even though seeing her nails slowly forming claws as she tried to attack me. I only stared straight at her, my eyes full of provocation. But before she could even lay her hands on me, a loud growl was suddenly heard from a distance. “Stop it, Kate. Don’t lower yourself for that witch.” My eyes snapped towards Kaden and Sophia who were walking towards our direction. A smirk appeared on my lips as I noticed Sophia staring hatefully at me. She was much beautiful up close, but the same disgust showing on her eyes told me that she was just the same as the other pack members here. How much more if she discovers that her jerk-of-a-mate has kept me locked in a hut exclusive for him over the past few months? I clicked my tongue as I raised my brows. In fact, I was not even the least proud of what Kaden has done to me. “I told you to bring her inside.” Kaden’s impatient voice resounded as he frowned talking to Erik. Sophia tilted her head to look at Kaden, but it seems like he was mind linking with Erik as his eyes were flashing a different color. Confusion was all over Sophia’s face. I sneered. It seems like she hasn’t fully discovered my ‘role’ in this pack. I wonder when Kaden will probably reveal everything to her… Or will he even able to? He humiliated me. Tortured me physically and mentally. Worst, the whole pack knew that I was being kept like his mistress. If Sophia ever finds out, I’m sure the disgust she was throwing towards me would turn much worse. The thought of the deeds he’s done over the last months almost made me vomit, but I kept my form straight because… My mate is here. He was still here. I could feel his intense gaze boring into my skin. However, I couldn’t bring myself to look back towards his direction. I can’t bring myself to witness how he reacts seeing how this whole pack treats me. “I apologize. I’ll bring her inside.” Erik stepped forward and pulled my arm harshly. I heard a growl. It was from my mate. The pain from being grabbed by Erik was not the one that bothered me, but instead, it was the rage I could feel overflowing from my mate. My heart clenched with worry, hoping that he wouldn’t do anything rashly at this moment. But it seems like everyone was oblivious to the fact that he was here. It seems like… they couldn’t detect his presence. “Why are you bringing her inside? I thought…” “Don’t ask too many questions. That man is coming. We can’t make a mistake.” As Erik dragged me away, I could hear Sophia’s voice full of disdain as Kaden cut her off. Good. See how you got mated to a jerk. I sneered, only to feel Erik putting more force to drag me along. “Hurry up!” I pursed my lips and hatefully glared at him. But he only returned the glare and I could do nothing but to get dragged with his force. ‘Calm down.’ I thought to myself even though panic was slowly starting to consume my whole body. I was already one step closer finally getting free from this pack. But I didn’t fully expect to be suddenly summoned. What do they even want from me? They said that someone was going to pay a visit to the pack. But what does it even have to do with me? Thousands of thoughts came crashing to my mind. I wonder if they’ve found out that I was planning my escape… But one thing that puzzled me the most is the fact that… my mate is also here. And they couldn’t even sense his presence. Is he the visitor they were expecting? Raising my head, I tried to scan the whole surrounding to find him. But suddenly, something hard hit my forehead making me hiss from pain. “Damn it!” I gritted my teeth. Someone just f*****g throwed a rock to me. I could feel blood oozing from my forehead. Snarling, I turn to look at the culprit, only to discover that it was a little boy, probably around 10 who throwed that f*****g rock to me. I hatefully glared at the child who was staring at me with a face full of haughtiness. “Witch!” The immature tone of his voice only pissed me off. Erik had also come to a halt for a moment before he continued dragging me. But then, a gust of wind suddenly seemed to pass through me before I heard that boy’s cries. “Help! Mom, help!” This time, I fully got my arm off Erik’s hold as I turned to look towards the direction of the boy who had just threw the rock at me earlier. My eyes widened, not because I saw the boy being lifted up to the air from his collar, but because of the person who was holding him. My lips slowly parted in shock seeing his fuming form. It was my mate. A woman’s cry resounded. “Who are you?! Let go of my son!” It seems to be the mother of the little boy whom my mate was still holding up into the air. As I saw her trying to attack my mate, rage took over my body. I wanted to jump towards them and protect my mate. But before I could even do that, an unknown force suddenly seemed to send the woman flying back and hitting one of the trees meters away from her previous spot. Then I saw two of the pack elders rushing towards my mate’s direction with their faces ashen. As they finally neared my mate, I saw them respectfully bowing in front of him. And then, their next words were enough to shock my whole soul. “Your majesty…”
