“Did you put Viktoria to work at the farm?” I ask after my mother pulls a chair and sits in front of me.
She gives me an uneasy glance, surprised by my tone. Then she seems to smile, perhaps impressed by this new Marco who is taking charge. Unlike the timid one some days ago. Yet, a former Luna, she is unfazed by my sharp demand for an answer. She merely sighs and shrugs.
“Mother, answer my question!"
“What?” she cries suddenly. “Of course not! That girl is a stubborn liar. Always twisting things. She should be dealt with properly before she poisons your mind completely.”
