As I walk down the road, each step taking me farther from the house, a wild thought crawls into my head: Why am I even listening to Lucille?
The last time she was Luna of this pack, her husband was the alpha. And said husband has been dead for months now. There's a new Luna and she is Kyra—even if I don't fancy that one herself.
But the point is, Lucille is giving orders like they are binding. They're not. According to pack laws, the alpha's mother, even if she was formerly a Luna, now assumed an advisory, ceremonial role. Basically, she can't tell me what to do!
