The Good Life

The Attack

Once I get home my mom grabs me and we run down to the basement. She doesn’t say anything other than to be quiet. It felt like we were down there for hours before my father came down. He explained that it was a false alarm. That one of the warriors heard something in the forest so they did a perimeter check and they found nothing. By the time we got upstairs I realized it was night time and my birthday had gone to waste. My parents apologized and promised that we would go away for the weekend to make up for it. I agreed and went upstairs and got ready for bed. It was storming heavily that night and I slowly drifted off to sleep listening to the rain hit the roof. I woke up to a loud bang and I heard my mother screaming. My parents always taught me since I was little that if something had ever happened to hide under my bed and wait for them, so that exactly what I did. I waited there for a long time. It had been a while since I heard any movement so I came out and walked towards my parents room being very quiet. It smelled like gas and smoke in the house but I didn’t think anything of it. I just wanted to find my parents. I walked into there room to find my dad laying on the floor, blood seeping from his abdomen I screamed and my heart felt like it was being ripped to shreds, I fell to the floor in pain and that’s when I saw my mother lying next to him also in a pool of blood. I couldn’t help my self but to let out a blood curdling scream that echoed through the house. Everything was still for a moment and then I saw bright flash and was knocked back.

Back To Reality

I was jolted awake by the sound of people. It had started raining and now I was numb and cold. I tried to let out a scream for help but a small whine came out instead I see a flashlight come towards my way and it lights up my face, I hear some one yelling that they found someone I started crying for help. My vision was starting to get blurry as they came over trying to pull me out from underneath my destroyed house. I feel someone pick me up as I drifted in and out of consciousness. And then everything went black.
