Chapter 3: Stranger

Chapter 3 I opened my eyes to meet myself tied to a pillar in a room that’s mildly dark. The room carried some secrets that I definitely wouldn’t want to unveil. I tried to wriggle myself free from the ropes but to no avail. In the middle of the room, my eyes caught a familiar figure moving towards me. It was a man’s body. I squinted my eyes to catch the glimpse of the man’s face. “ Let me go!”, I said authoritatively. “ Who are you unh?”. “What do you want, I’ll give it to you. Just name your price and it’s just a phone call away!”. I tried to convince the man. As the man moved closer, I found him more and more familiar. Alas it was Alexander holding a whip. “Alexander, please let me go. I didn’t do anything this time”, I begged whilst still trying to free myself. Alexander moved close to me and raised the whip high to hit me. As it came down to my face, I screamed back to reality, panting on the floor. “It was just a dream!”, I said holding my racing chest. I surveyed my surroundings and found out I was still in my room. I heaved a sigh of relief. Immediately I realized a sound coming from a direction in the room. “s**t!”, I cursed. I was late for work. I rushed to my phone and turned off the alarm. I dashed to the bathroom, took a quick shower and back to the closet to pick an office appropriate outfit. I put on a white shirt and black trousers. I quickly applied light makeup. My skin was naturally fair and I didn’t require much makeup. All these were completed within 30 minutes. I took my handbag and some office stuffs and dashed out to catch a cab. Of course I had a car, but I didn’t feel the need to bring it with me. On my way down the stairs, I met Jace. “Good morning madam, he said with a smile!”. “Good morning Jace, sorry can’t talk”, I said dashing past him. “But I was just about to call you for breakfast!”, he shouted at me who was already down to stairs. “Don’t just forget about the tour master asked me to give you!”, he still shouted. “Okay!”, I screamed back. Outside the mansion, I realized that I was in deep s**t. This area was a private area, secluded from the hustle and bustle of the main city, so the chances of getting a cab in this area filled with people rich enough to even have ten cars was slim. I knew I should have brought my car at least. “s**t, s**t, s**t!”, I cursed trying to see if I could catch the glimpse of a cab around. While I was still lamenting at my predicament, I saw a black Lamborghini, driving out of the gate towards me. I was scared knowing it would be Alexander but I had to get to work as fast as possible. I was a head of the fashion designing department in a company. I was doing fine until the incident with my so called husband. I had never been late, and I definitely wasn’t ready to break that. I flagged down the car and was begging at the same time. The windows tinted black were all whirled up. The car drove past me without a second thought. I was shocked. I knew that Alexander had deliberately told his chauffeur to step on the gas. “Pig headed son of a b***h!”, I screamed at the top of my lungs. Little did I know that the “son of a b***h” actually heard me. The car came to a stop and reversed back to where I was. I knew I was in it already. Alexander stepped out of the car with his long legs, draped in a black suit. His hands were adorned with a watch laced with diamonds and some rings that weren’t inferior. “What did you call me?”, he asked looking into my eyes with a murderous gaze. I froze not knowing what to do. “Why is this happening to me?”, I screamed in my mind. “You realize I’m talking to you right?”, he asked. “I’m sorry”, I said still frozen to the ground. “Is that all you can say?!”, he said with an outburst of anger. I was speechless scared of the possibilities of what he could do to me. “You’re lucky I’m in a hurry, I’ll let you off”, he said making his way back to his car. I huffed a sigh of relief. He stopped midway into his car “And we’ll continue where we stopped yesterday”, he said with a smile that spoke volumes. My heart raced a thousand miles after I heard those words. They kept replaying in my head as he drove off, leaving me all alone of the quiet road. As I was lamenting and about to call for a designated driver, I saw a silver Lambo drove in past me, reversed back to where I was and then stopped. I was wondering what rich person could be nice enough to give me a ride because trust me I’ve had a lot of interactions with these people and they definitely don’t like giving rides. The window whirled down and a voice followed. “Would you like a ride, beautiful?” A man with extremely good looks in dark shades smiled to me. His hair was a little longer than an average guy’s and he was slightly built. I hesitated for a while before replying him. “Yes, thank you so much!”, I replied with much joy in my voice before hoping into the car. “Seatbelt, please”, he said politely, pointing at the seatbelt. I smiled “Yes, safety first”, as I put on the seatbelt. “So…I guess you’re not from around here, right?”, he asked, eyes fixed on the road. I glanced through my watch and discovered I had a few minutes to be late. “Yes, I just got married recently”, I replied politely. He turned his eyes to me in shock, “To Alexander?”, he asked despite knowing since he picked me up from the front of Alexander’s. “Yes”, I replied with a slight nod. “Wow” he said playing with his fingers on the steering wheel, “you’re stronger than you look then”, he said with a slight chuckle. “Of course, I’m not like other girls”, I replied back with a smile. “By the way, what made you think I’m stronger than normal?”, I asked after a few seconds of silence. “Well, working with Alexander is strenuous and psychologically exhausting. But marriage is a whole different level of s**t”. I listened to every bit of word he said. “Do you know what he’s called?, “The Reaper”. He drains everyone around him completely. You definitely can’t see someone around him that’s normal. Except you of course”, he wrapped up with a smile. I was stunned at this revelation. He definitely was someone who had a dark side but it wasn’t something I would want to believe so easily. “And how do you know all these?”, I asked with creased brows. “Do you know Alexander?” He looked at me with a deep gaze and with pouted lips.
