The room felt like a dungeon, with dim lighting casting eerie shadows on the cold, stone walls. I had endured hours of isolation, hunger gnawing at my stomach, but I was determined not to let Alexander and Ella's cruel punishment break me.
Just right when Alexander raised the whip to send it crashing down on me, an alarm, as loud as hell began to sound, creating a red flash of light. “Is there a fire?”, I said to myself as I looked around at what kind of fire alarm this was.
I didn’t notice the frown and puzzled look on Alexander’s face. Ella noticed it and kept nudging him, “Baby, what’s it?”.
He didn’t answer and just kept scrolling through his phone. I had a feeling something wasn’t right. I’ve never seen Alexander so…. what’s the word?. Perplexed!.
Just when I thought the situation couldn't get any worse, the door burst open with a loud crash. Jace, a man who also hasn’t loose his cool before, totally lost that s**t. He stood there with a look of sheer terror on his face.
"Master! Ella!" Jace exclaimed, his voice trembling with fear. "There's an emergency! We're under attack!"
Alexander and Ella turned towards Jace, their expressions shifting from cruelty to surprise.
Ella was completely dipped in fear. She immediately turned to Alexander. “What’s going on, Alexander?, I don’t want to die, huh?”, she kept rambling on and on.
Fear also gripped me as I kept wondering what could cause such attack. Jace looked at me, then whispered something in to Alexander’s ear. A surge of anger was exuded from him as he was hearing it.
“Let’s go!”, Alexander said as he walked hurriedly out of the room. “Wait for me”, Ella said as she ran after him. As Jace was about to leave, he turned back like he forgot something, and came to pull me up from the chair.
“Looks like, you finally remembered me”, I said. He looked at me with a “you’re-hopeless”, kind of look and said with a grin “You’re welcome!”, and dragged me out of the room.
As soon as we got out, I began hearing sounds of gunshots. “The room was soundproof”, Jace said, after figuring out what I was thinking.
“Don’t freight, okay?”, Jace continued after seeing me go “numb”.
“How do you expect me not to freak out. I’ve never even heard the sound of a gun, not to talk of being in between a shootout.”, I lamented at the predicament I found myself in.
Jace didn’t say anything and just “hmphed”. He led me through a corridor and some kinds of corners, away from the gunshots sound, into a somewhat passage.
“Woah”, I said marveled at the room we just found ourselves in after going through all sorts of passes. “I never knew the house
was as big as this”, I said to Jace while still following him closely. “There’s a lot of things you don’t know about”, he said after a moment of silent where I wasn’t even expecting a reply.
I was puzzled and asked “What other thing don’t I know of?”, I asked him. He kept silent as he continued going through some corners. He looked like he wasn’t ready to give me an answer. I was vexed and stayed silent throughout, to show him how annoyed I was, and he also didn’t bother.
We got to a room that was like a mini living room with all facilities in it.We met Alexander and Ella already there. Alexander was talking to Ella in a crouching position. “Just stay here till it all dies down okay?.” Ella nodded like a obedient little puppy. “Stay safe for me, okay baby”, “Okay”, she replied with a nod.
I scoffed at the sight of the “immoral love birds”. “Stay here till it all dies down”, Jace instructed. I also nodded just like Ella, as if mocking her. “b***h”, I heard the voice I hated so much. “I don’t think the bullets would kill somebody before I do”, I said rolling my eyes.
“Are you talking to me?”, she rose from the sofa. I completely ignored her and continued talking with Jace, while Alexander kept on calming her down.
“Jace, let’s move”, Alexander said while opening the door of the room. “Right”, Jace replied and stood up. “And nobody should tell anyone of this stuff”, Alexander said to both I and Ella before he left. Jace smiled at me, then exited.
As the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the mansion, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief mingled with confusion.
What had just happened? Who would dare to attack the Salvatore mansion?
A few hours Iater, I rose from the chair, my legs shaky from hours of sitting in one place. Ella was on her phone watching internet videos. I scoffed. With cautious steps, I tried to make my way out of the room and into the corridor.
“Where do you think you’re doing?” Ella's voice stopped me, right as I was about to open the door. “I’m taking a dump.”, I said sarcastically. “Of course I want to go out”.
“In this chaos?, Suit yourself then”, She said. “I’m going of course”, I said as I stepped outside. I trailed the way we came through out of sheer curiosity.
With fear in my heart, I continued to move back to the main house. I got to the hallway leading to the rooms. I had a peep downstairs.
The mansion was although quiet, but in disarray. With all staff members scurrying about, their faces filled with panic. And something that baffled me was that they were all with guns!.
I blended into the commotion, determined to find out what was happening. I overheard snippets of conversations, it sounded like Alexander was scolding them including Jace for the loose security.
My curiosity and determination drove me forward. I needed to know more. I followed the commotion until I reached a good spot to see the sight to its full extent. My eyes couldn’t believe what I saw.
Dead bodies with unveiled masks filled the floor. A woman who seemed to be the leader of the group of dead people was in the middle of all the staffs, except Lucas, who each held a gun. Jace’s was pointed to her head. She was bleeding.
She was In the midst of a heated discussion. “How could you possibly let a group of nobodies infiltrate my house?. My house!”, Alexander yelled at the group of staffs. They were all quiet.
Alexander was also holding a pistol. He hit it on the woman’s head, but a sound of pain didn’t escape from her lips. “Who sent you, huh?, Alexander asked her.
“Just kill me, cos I ain’t saying s**t you son of a pig!”, she said with a smile and spitting on the floor as a sign of disgust.
“A strong one huh?, take her to the basement!”, he instructed some men. They raised her immediately and were about to drag her away when I hit a flower vase that shattered on the floor. All eyes were now on me, including the woman.
Alexander showed a sign on annoyance immediately his eyes were fixed on me.
Jace turned to me, his eyes filled with a strange mixture of anger and concern. "Isabella, it's not safe here. Go back to the safe room, now!”.
Before I could completely process Jace’s message, a man ran from behind me and pulled me towards him and held a dagger at my neck point.
“Anybody moves and she’s a goner!”, he yelled.
