As riots started to break out and speculations filled the air, the screens switched from Mars TV to ground station cameras. And there he stood, the man responsible for it all.  Greer grinned as he felt the warmth of the anger of all the humans. He took a deep breath and rolled his eyes like he didn’t care about what was happening. And finally, he opened his mouth to speak.  “You are the worst of all species to ever emerge in the universe. Humans, you call yourselves. You do the worst of things to each other and your planet, judging your actions by some fictional moral code and desperate to justify any pain you inflict on each other. Ironically, humanity has a whole different meaning. Hahaha...” he said and laughed.  “And now you dare set foot on my planet!” He said and his red eyes flashed like a torch, resembling his anger with his rival race. Without stopping, he continued his thrashing.  “You burn down the very forests that are the reason for your existence, kill the very animals that share your land with you for something you call ‘fun’, and you THINK that you are superior just because you have eliminated every single threat that you faced in the lifetime of your race. Well, now that you have stabbed your own throats and plagued your planet too far for your own good, you think you can just burn it all down and continue the same on other planets?!” he screamed. At this same time, the screens switched to the riots. They showed the people possessed by some devilish spirits with their eyes gleaming with fire and killing everyone around them like they were not humans but just wild boars. "So you think this behavior is irrational? What about the animal that died so that you can fill your bellies and throw most of them away without even acknowledging their sacrifice? You are about to learn how weak your moral code is and the illusion of society you have woven around yourself is nothing but a hoax. You will learn humans when you die by not our hands, but your own. But let this be known across all mankind. No one will be spared. We will eliminate every last remaining unit of this anomaly called humanity so that they cannot harm this beautiful planet that we once called home. It is a shame what has to happen. We never wanted to erase humans from existence because we were not your creators. But we know that once you know of our existence and Mars' habitability, you will never stop trying to take over and rip us of our own home. And so we must fight you, and fight we will..." Greer said lifted his hand. The screens went blank and then suddenly a red light flashed, disorienting everyone who saw it. And before long, the widespread headache turned into a pandemic. The people didn't notice anything for the first two days. Maybe it was the desperation to cling to hope or the anxiety of an alien invasion that was stealing their sleep. But soon they realized what had happened. The world now hosted two kinds of people, the normal and the loonies. The ones that couldn't sleep went crazy within a week, succumbing to their worst nightmares and being hyperactive. By the end of two weeks, things went so out of control that the loonies had to be locked up wherever found. They reacted extremely violently to any small stimulus and sudden changes in the environment meant certain gruesome death for anyone in their surrounding. The streets were locked up and not a single person was seen outside for the next month. And after one month, something truly shocking happened. Every person who was affected by the red flash grew calmer and calmer. They were more composed, focused, and emotionally numb. In short, the government had found perfect soldiers. It turns out that the red light did not only take away their ability to sleep, it also enhanced their DNA in a way that they would not die due to lack of sleep. The sudden change in DNA and habits led to the initial violent outbreaks, but now they were the most efficient war machines humanity ever produced. All thanks to the ones who thought they were going to kill humans using the people from their same species. "Sir, we have recruited twenty thousand more today." Sergeant Paige said proudly. "Good! Now we have just enough manpower to successfully execute the plan. It is now time to move on to Phase Two." Captain Humpstein said. "Are you sure that we should do this?" The director of the White Feather asked. "I am positive, my friend. He has already saved us from doom multiple times, from what you have told us. I believe he will be a vital asset in this mission." Captain Humpstein said while being relaxed. He had been working on the plan for a whole year now, and it was time that he celebrated the fruits of his hard works. The only thing he needed to do before that brought the ruthless killer to the timeline he belonged to, and he intended to do it as soon as possible. In the evening, the war committee was standing outside the shift chamber. The secret facility seemed like an anomaly in the middle of the desert. But then again, it was the perfect cover for an agency like this. "So this will take us back in time?" Humpstein asked reluctantly. "I believe so, sir. And don't worry, it has been used by our agents thousands of times now, and never once did anyone complain of a malfunction." The old man, who was the director of the agency, said and smiled. "Very clever, that's comforting," Humpstein said and stepped inside the chamber. The director followed him, knowing that he was the only one that the assassin would trust and listen to, especially after the stabs in the back he had received from the people he was close to early in his life.
