LORENZO’S POV I watched the look of pure surprise dance across her face. “You got this for me?” she asked, confusion slowly replacing the earlier astonishment. This one—she was different. Not the usual annoying, scheming brats Raphael always brought home as playthings. She was brutally honest, even with her emotions. I didn’t have to stress about reading her; everything was plain and unfiltered. She was innocent and fragile, like porcelain—smooth, unblemished, and too easily shattered. I wondered how she managed to stay this way living among the Mafia. Her father must have gone to great lengths to shield her from the darker side of his world. But if he had gone so far to protect her innocence, why the hell did he allow her to marry Raphael? That was a puzzle I hadn’t yet solved. T
