Chapter 5: The Silver Flame The alarm echoed through the Silver Crescent Pack like a thunderclap. Warriors poured from every corner of the territory, shifting into their wolves as they raced toward the eastern border. The air was thick with fear and the scent of blood. Lyra stood frozen for only a heartbeat before instinct took over. "I'm coming too," she said. "You'll stay here," Beta Rowan ordered. "The battlefield is no place for the future Luna." "But there are wounded who'll need help." Without waiting for permission, she grabbed a satchel filled with herbs, bandages, and healing salves and ran after the warriors. By the time she reached the eastern border, chaos had already erupted. Rogues were everywhere. Their eyes glowed an unnatural crimson, and instead of fighting like ordinary wolves, they attacked with frightening coordination. Kael fought at the center of the battlefield. His massive gray wolf tore through rogue after rogue, yet for every enemy he defeated, two more seemed to appear. "What is happening?" Rowan growled as he fought beside him. "They're not trying to win," Kael replied. "They're searching for something." Suddenly, one of the rogues shouted, "Find the girl!" Lyra's blood ran cold. Me? Before she could react, three rogues lunged toward her. She stumbled backward, clutching the silver pendant Elder Miriam had given her. "No!" One rogue slashed at her. The pendant blazed with brilliant silver light. A shockwave exploded outward. The attacking rogues were hurled through the air as if struck by an invisible force. The entire battlefield fell silent. Even Kael stopped fighting. Lyra stared at the glowing pendant in disbelief. "I... I didn't do that." But deep inside, her wolf stirred. Not in fear. In recognition. The silver light wrapped around Lyra like living flames, illuminating the forest with an ethereal glow. The rogues backed away, terror replacing the madness in their eyes. "It's her..." "The Silver Flame..." "We've found her!" Before anyone could question them, a piercing howl echoed through the trees. The remaining rogues immediately retreated into the darkness. Within seconds, they were gone. Silence settled over the battlefield. Kael approached Lyra slowly. "What was that?" She shook her head. "I don't know." For the first time since they had met as children, Kael looked at her not with disappointment... But with astonishment. ... Back at the pack house, Elder Miriam examined the pendant. "It has awakened," she whispered. Rowan frowned. "What do you mean?" The old priestess looked at Lyra with wide, troubled eyes. "This relic has remained dormant for hundreds of years." "Only the one chosen by the Moon Goddess herself could awaken its true power." The room fell silent. Kael looked from the pendant to Lyra. Questions filled his mind. Who was she... really? ... Far beyond the Silver Crescent territory, inside a fortress hidden among towering black mountains, the mysterious crimson-eyed king stood before a roaring fire. A raven landed on the stone windowsill. "The pendant has awakened, my King," the bird spoke in a human voice. A slow smile spread across his face. "So... fate has finally moved." His trusted commander stepped forward. "Shall we bring her here?" The king's crimson eyes glowed. "Not yet." "She still has one trial left." "And when her heart is shattered beneath the Blood Moon..." He looked toward the moon shining high above. "...I will cross every border, challenge every Alpha, and tear down every kingdom if that is what it takes to bring my true mate home." For the first time in centuries... Hope returned to the immortal king's heart. And though Lyra had never heard his name, destiny had already begun weaving their paths together.
