Theodore’s POV
I sit at the breakfast table and look out at the rose garden. Tiffany is talking but I don’t hear her. Something is not sitting right inside of me and I can’t find what it is exactly.
“Theodore, are you listening to me?” Tiffany’s voice breaks through my thoughts.
“Sorry. I’m a distracted with pack issues. What were you saying?”
“I was reminding you about that time at the engagement dinner, when Ivy said that I should not sit at the head of the table because, though I’m the heiress, I would not be the Luna. She’s always been so jealous of me.”
Jonathan chips in. “It was embarrassing. I hate seeing such weakness. No Luna should be jealous of another.”
I look at both of them, listen to their jabs at Ivy.
“I’ve always known she was insane. The evidence was always there,” Tiffany says. “At least she’s where she belongs now thanks to Theodore.”
“Let her stay there until she dies,” Jonathan says. He and Tiffany laugh and it makes me sick.
I stand and go to the window. Tiffany comes to me, holding me from behind. “What’s wrong, darling? Maybe we should go back to bed for a while. I know how to make you feel better.”
She nips as my ear and I pull away.
As Luna we have shared a bed, we’ve had s*x, but I take great care. I will never impregnant Tiffany, though she wants that. I do what I must, nothing more. And it’s never a comfort. Never an enjoyment.
Tiffany goes back to the table, rebuffed.
“Honestly, it’s like a breath of fresh air not having that lying b***h around,” Jonathan says.
“I feel safer that’s for sure. She nearly strangled me to death!”
“Even if they let her out of the loony bin, they should put her straight into prison for that, Tiffany. She’s pure evil!” They’re enjoying this.
I turn from the window. “Stop! Stop this talk now. I’ll not have it in my house, in this pack. Ivy deserves none of this!”
I leave them in their disbelief and go to my study. I need quiet. I’ve never cared much for Jonathan but now I think I hate him. What he did to Ivy at the hospital was unacceptable. At one point he claimed to be a loving brother to her, how can a person change so radically?
Then a memory comes to me. After Ivy and I were married, she went to visit the Sterlings and came back in tears. She said that Jonathan had taken her to the side where no one could see and had called her names and finally slapped her.
I saw no mark on her that could be evidence of the slap and didn’t believe her. It was at the beginning of the lies and I was losing all trust in her.
Seeing how Jonathan was at the hospital, I know now that Ivy was telling the truth that day. Why did I not believe her then?
Everything is mixed up in my mind. All I keep seeing is Ivy restrained on the bed, furious. I saw the hate for me in her eyes and it makes me so sad to think of it. How did it come to this?
I need to get busy with something to distract me from my thoughts. I’ve hired a private detective to look into the hit-and-run accident. No matter what, I want to know who pushed Ivy’s car off the road. I want the truth. I call the detective.
“Kingsley, I’m checking if you have any news to give me about the investigation.”
“Alpha, I was just about to call you. I’ve gone through all the CCTV for the entire province. That road is a dead zone but roads leading in and out are not. I’ve found a vehicle. A sports car. It’s on the camera in the town heading out and then it’s gone. Like disappears. It’s never seen again.”
“So what does that mean?”
“I think it’s the vehicle we’re looking for and after crashing Ivy’s car, the driver stashed the car somewhere along that section of the road with no cameras. Hiding it since it would have been crashed too and people would have reported it.”
“Where? We should have found it. It’s all forest there. There’s only a handful of spots where a car can even enter.”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought. Unless the person dismantled the car. Buried it, carried it into the woods. Who knows? There are lots of insane options and I’m checking out all of them.”
“On the CCTV did you see the driver or get the registration number of the car?”
“Sorry Boss, no. The tag was off and the driver was hiding behind a big hoodie.”
I’m disappointed to hear that. “Okay, at least we have a lead, even if it’s a thin one.”
I’m reminded that Ivy had said it was a sports car and now it’s confirmed.
“Don’t worry, Boss. I’ll find the person. I never give up once I have the scent. I’ll call you when I get more.”
I hang up. Suddenly my wolf rises and says: “Why are you forgetting the scent of pup you got from Ivy?”
I lean back. Did I smell pups? Maybe. Everything was coming so fast. That was at the mental hospital though, after the time that Nicole said the pups were dead. It makes no sense. I must have been confused.
A video call pops up on my phone. I see it’s the mental hospital’s administrator.
“Hello. How’s Ivy? Is something wrong?”
“I’m afraid there is. Ivy has escaped. We’ve been looking for her the entire morning and she seems to have vanished.”
“f**k! You people are so incompetent! I’m coming right now! And I want answers!”
I jump in my car and leave, telling no one. I must find Ivy before it’s too late!

I rush in the front door of the mental hospital and find the administrator. “I warned you if anything happen to Ivy I would hold you personally responsible. What the hell happened?”
“The nurse and our guards were with her, giving her some calming tea for the night. She insulted them, spitting the tea into their eyes. Then she shifted. You told us she was pure human, so we were not ready for that.”
“What? No, that can’t happen. Ivy has no wolf. I want to talk to the people who were in the room. Right now!”
She takes me to the emergency room in the mental hospital. The two guards are there, one with a broken pelvis, the other with a serious head wound and a broken leg. The nurse had a psychotic break and ran through a window in the staff room. She has cuts all over her body.
“What happened to them?”
“Ivy happened to them.”
I look at the guards. “Are you telling me that you could not get control of a petite woman like Ivy? What sort of men are you?”
They look at me ashamed. I go to the nurse. “Explain to me exactly what happened?”
“I was passing the room last night and saw that Ivy was awake and suffering. Rolling back and forth. Upset. I made her some calming tea. We went in to give it to her. She was wild. Shouting obscenities at me. When I tried to get her to drink the tea, she threw it at me.”
“Were her hands not restrained?” I ask.
“Yes...you’re right. She...knocked it out of my hand... with her head.”
Making it up as she goes along. I notice an injection site on her arm. “What’s that?”
“It’s nothing.” I know she’s lying.
“So did you see Ivy shift?”
“I did. We weren’t prepared. She threw the guards across the room like they were babies not the grown men that they are. She ripped her hands out of the restraints as if they were not there. She’s not only a werewolf but an extremely powerful one. I’ve never seen anything like her.”
I know for Ivy to have her first shift this late in her life, something intense must have prompted it. It was not a cup of calming tea.
“One thing you need to know about me is that I despise lies. I’ll ask you again, what were you doing to Ivy when she shifted?”
The nurse looks at the administrator and the administrate nods, giving permission for the truth to be revealed.
“I was trying to give her the injection we use for the wildest mental patients, it causes them to go unconscious.”
I refer to the injection on the nurse’s arm. “And this? What is it?”
“She got lose and injected me with what was intended for her.”
“If you got injected with the medicine that makes patients go unconscious, why did you run around the hospital and eventually right through a glass door?”
The nurse shakes her head and begins to cry. The administrator steps in. “In some people that injection causes them to have a psychotic break and, if not restrained, they can hurt themselves.”
“Had Ivy been given this injection before?”
“Yes.”
“And did she have a psychotic break?”
“Yes,” the administrator says. “For some hours, but eventually the chemical worked.”
“Eventually it worked? You let her suffer for hours, restrained in her bed, until she went unconscious? What sort of medical treatment is that?”
“It’s standard practice.”
“Not any more. You and this nurse are unemployed from today. I’ll ensure that you never work again. You’re not healers, you’re monsters!”
What had I done to Ivy?

I leave the mental hospital calling Kingsley on the way. He needs to put together a c***k search team.
“I must find Ivy!” I tell him.
“I’m on it, Boss.”
Ivy vanished and I needed to put all of my energy into finding her since I was the one responsible for everything.
