20. Alpha's regret

1612 Words
Theodore’s POV I shave carefully and apply my most expensive aftershave. I want to look good for this meeting. I go to my wardrobe and choose a navy suit, the one that fits closely to my body. I look at myself in the full length mirror. I know Ivy will not be able to resist me. Perhaps we will mate again finally in this very room. This time I will mark her. This time she will know she’s mine forever! I didn’t sleep with Tiffany the night before so she’s not around. I’m in my own rooms, free to do as I like without her questions and comments. The reception the night before was crazy. I needed to be alone last night to think through everything. To make a plan to get Ivy to return to me, to return home where she belongs. She talked a big game yesterday about how she hates me and will never return, but I know her, I felt her. She will be mine again. We cannot fight the fact that we are fated! Then I remember her talking about divorce and the boyfriend she loves, waiting for her at home with the Ice Moon Pack. How can that be? I’ll not allow her to get away from me again. I love her. I realise now I love her completely and I need her here by my side. I don’t care about what’s happened in the past. We’ll build a new loving future together. Today I’ll find a way to get her to understand that. I check my watch. The meeting is in thirty minutes. I must go down to breakfast. “Oh look at you! So handsome!” Tiffany says. She stands and comes to me when I enter the dining room. She hugs me and I keep my arms to my side. She tries to kiss my lips but I turn and she kisses my cheek. “You smell good too.” “Thanks.” I move away from her and take my seat at the far end of the table. I’m happy to see that Jonathan is not there. Probably still sleeping being the lazy f**k that he is. I really want him out of my house. Anyway soon Tiffany will be gone too, so Jonathan will have no reason to be here. The servant brings my coffee and breakfast. “Thank you.” I want to eat in silence though I know with Tiffany that’s never an option. “Last night was a disaster! At least after your meeting this morning, Ivy will be gone out of our lives. I hope forever,” Tiffany says. “She’s such an evil b***h!” “You are aware that if we form a business partnership with Ice Moon we’ll be meeting periodically,” I say. “Surely you can send your assistants and accountants to deal with them once you’ve sorted out the main agreement, Babe.” “We’ll see how it goes.” I have no interest in discussing my plans with her. “That b***h was awful to me and my family last night. Humiliated us and you too. Jonathan and my father were talking about revenge. I told them to calm down but I’m not sure what they’ll do. They were very angry.” The more I go over what happened last night the less sympathy I have for Tiffany and her family. They were awful and disrespectful to Ivy. The idea of them discussing revenge annoys me. “Where’s Jonathan?” I ask. “I don’t know. He left early.” Tiffany takes another pastry from the tray. “He better not be planning anything. I’m the Alpha of this pack. He will answer to me.” “Don’t get angry at me! I told you I told them not to do anything. I knew you wouldn’t like it.” I check my watch. Ivy should be here soon. I drink the last of my coffee and stand to leave. “I’m going to make sure the conference room is ready. Tiffany, keep yourself scarce. I don’t want any theatrics today. We need to conduct business.” “Am I the problem? Everything was fine before that lying b***h Ivy showed up! I don’t like how you’re treating me. You’re acting like I’m not the Luna any more.” How is this woman talking to me? “As you know you were filling in for Ivy. So since she’s back, technically you are not the Luna any more.” She rushes at me as if to slap me in the face. I grab her arm. “Are you certain that’s what you’d like to do?” I ask her my wolf close to the surface. “You can’t just throw me to the side like garbage! We have shared a bed together for five years. I could be pregnant with your pups. Is this how you treat the mother of your children?” She starts to cry. I let her go. “You’re not pregnant. I’ve made sure that would never happen. You shouldn’t lie about such things.” She’s been given a monthly injection by Nicole and I’ve been wearing protection. I’m doubly sure she’s not telling the truth. “You mean lie like your wife Ivy when she said she was pregnant and she wasn’t? Stupid dirty b***h!” I raise my hand and then take a breath and retreat. “Like I said. Keep yourself scarce. Ivy should not set eyes on you anywhere. The house is big, keep in another part or go out shopping. I don’t care. But I will not see you or there will be consequences.” She storms out. I only hope she’ll not make a scene today. Last night was enough. *** I check that all is in order in the conference room. My watch says that Ivy is five minutes late. That’s uncharacteristic of her but I relax on the sofa and look out the window. She’ll be here soon. I think of how she looked last night when she entered the hall. Was there ever a more beautiful woman? The years have made her more beautiful not less. I thought I was getting over her running away, but when I saw her I knew the aching, bleeding hole in my heart was suddenly filled. Now to know we are indeed fated mates as Grandma Susan has always said makes me sure that Ivy will see things correctly. We must be together again. Ivy will understand that today. I look out the window and there’s no car. It’s fifteen minutes past our meeting time. I’m impatient and walk outside to the front of the house. Tiffany comes out, it’s clear she’s on her way to the mall. “So where’s the Ice Moon Princess now? I thought you were already in your meeting.” I check my watch yet again— thirty minutes late. What’s going on? “You know what I think?: Tiffany says though I have no interest in hearing her ideas on the subject. “I think Ivy never intended to do any business with you. She just wanted to make that big show last night and now she’s leaving you hanging. She just wanted to teach you some sort of lesson, like the b***h that she is. So rude! Wasting the Alpha’s time!” I’m about to respond when my phone rings. I answer it. “Alpha, this is Ryder. I’m at Ivy’s lawyer’s office. She was here filing the divorce papers and someone has kidn*pped her. I think you should come.” The car pulls up to take Tiffany to the mall. “I need to take this car, it’s an emergency.” I jump in and tell the driver to hurry. We race away to the lawyer’s office. *** At the lawyer’s office I find Ryder, the lawyer Marcel, the receptionist, and the police. “So what happened? I thought you’re her security guard. How could someone take her?” I demand from Ryder. “We found the receptionist when we arrived. She insisted I wait out here,” Ryder says. I look at the receptionist. “Why did you want him to stay out here? He’s meant to protect her!” The older, stern faced woman looks at me very annoyed. “It wasn’t me!” “Sorry,” Ryder says. “The woman who was posing as the receptionist when we arrived is part of the k********g I believe now.” I listen to the police and Marcel and neither have any idea where Ivy could be. I remember the absence of Jonathan at breakfast and Tiffany’s talk about her family seeking revenge. I pull the police chief to the side. “I think you need to get to the Sterling’s. The family was very angry about last night. Jonathan, who normally stays at my house, left early in the morning, which is very out of character.” “Okay, Alpha, we’re on it!” He quickly organises the police to follow the lead. I promise that if the Sterlings had anything to do with this they will be banished from Silver Claw forever. I’ll kill Jonathon with my own hands, that arrogant prick! In the meanwhile, I call Kingsley. “Ivy has been kidn*pped. Come with your best people.” “I’m on my way,” Kingsley says. I search the empty lawyer’s office and there is no clue of where she could be. This can’t happen again! I can’t lose Ivy when I only just have her back in my life!
