By the time the two got home, everything seemed to be out of place, somehow-Miles was found building his pidgeon planes in the living room, in the process of cutting the metal sheets he had collected into the parts for the thing, Melanie was-according to Alex Mars' ears-snoring lightly in her room upstairs, while Thomas had obviously left the house in his Chiron, since its parking space was empty.
