She took a cold shower, rubbed white powder all over her neck and face, and wore her nightie – her usual night ritual before retiring. "Hmm, tomorrow is another day," she thought, lying down on her flat student mattress. "I guess Juwon isn't coming home today," she mused. Juwon, her roommate, was a female with a name that often led people to assume she was cohabiting with a man. Bolu always had to correct this misconception. Bolu started scrolling through her messages, replying to those worth responding to and ignoring others that required more energy than she had that night. Then, Ola's message popped up. Ola: "Hi." Bolu: "Hi." Ola: "You're home, right? And hope you've freshened up, cos you seemed a bit tired and stressed earlier." Bolu: "Yeah, I have. Thanks... didn't think you noticed. Trust me, I almost didn't want to give you audience with how tired I was, but didn't want your prediction of me always frowning and unfriendly to be confirmed." Ola: "Oh, thanks for the cool reception then. Hope I wasn't too much of a bother?" Bolu: "Just a bit, but at least I didn't regret it. You seem interesting." Ola: "Really?... Trust me, I don't think I am. I've been told I'm funny though by one or two close friends. Let's hope you'll see me as such too."
