The Guys!!!

1109 Words
It all started in my junior year in college, I was twenty years old then. I had a group of friends then and we were five guys. We were smart enough to have good grades, but we did not study much. We were mostly partying and having fun. We hosted some of the biggest and best parties on campus. We were quite good looking and really famous among the ladies. Their names were Lucas, Samuel, William and Isaac. Samuel and I were in biology major while Lucas, Samuel and Isaac were engineering majors. We met at the school orientation when we were still freshmen and became friends. Lucas and Samuel were the Casanovas and the ladies loved them; they were exceptionally good looking that they were always in the spotlight wherever they went. William was the charmer and Isaac was the bad boy. I was the nice guy but deep down I knew I wasn’t nice. I just appeared to be. We had just resumed school for spring semester, and we hosted a party two weeks later. That was where I met her. Sweet Aurora! She walked in with her group of friends and they were four girls. Everyone knew Aurora, immediately they came in she went up to people and said hi. She greeted most of the people she knew while her friends left to get seats. I had seen her many times on campus, we were both juniors, but we never talked to each other. She smiled a lot, and her smile was pretty. She wasn’t as beautiful as her friends, but she had this charm that was quite difficult to point out. Some guys called her a slut because she had s*x with whoever she wanted to. She never did relationships, only one nightstand. She did not care about the people who talked bad about her. Her slogan was “as long as I am not hurting anyone, whatever I do is not your business and whatever you think of me is none of my concern". Lucas had tried to get with her before, but it didn’t work out. I heard she told him that he wasn’t her style. She knew what she wanted and went for it till she got it. After greeting people, she got her drinks and headed for friends who also had their drinks by now. I learnt later that they were trying to match their friend with a guy that had a crush on her. She headed towards my group and greeted us. She was still friends with Lucas. That was the first time she noticed me. She asked if I was a new student and I said no. then she said that she had never seen me around and I was quite offended and told her that she was probably blind. I left the group and went out for some fresh air because she pissed me off by saying she did not know me. We had two classes together in the past and we even had a class together this semester. How could she not know me? By the time I got back she was gone but two of her friends were still there. I left because my mood had been ruined. We met later during the week in our lab class. Our professor partnered everyone up for the semester and she was my partner. I was annoyed and was told the professor to change my partner, but he said that would not happen. So, I was stuck with her for the whole semester. She came up to sit with me and offered her hand for a handshake saying we should work hard together to pass the class. I did not take her hand neither did I reply her. She just chuckled and sat down. We got through the class without killing ourselves so that was nice. At the end of the lab, we were given a project that was due at the end of the semester. I was going to slack off and wait till the end of the semester to start but she came up to me and said we should start it right away since it was difficult and broad. I just refused and she told me that she didn’t mind me not doing it, but she was not going to put my name down when she was done, and she would tell the professor I contributed nothing to it. Now if this was for a minor grade I would have walked out but this was a major grade that would greatly affect my grades at the end of the semester so I grumbled and accepted. We decided to meet twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We exchanged numbers and email address because we would need to research and share them with each other. I left to hang out with my friends later and Samuel just laughed at me when I told them what happened. They said I shouldn’t be too upset as she was always working, and her workplace was far from school. I told them that we had classes together in the past, how could she not know? They asked if we had ever talked to each other in class and I said no. I decided not to be upset anymore and we talked about other things. We had our first meeting on Saturday, and I had not even looked at the project, she was mad when I told her I hadn’t done anything. She told me that she was not going to mommy me and if I insisted on acting like I child she would do it on her own because she had no interest in forcing another human being to do something they didn’t want to do. I apologized and decided to give it my full attention. Once we were done, I asked her if she wanted to get dinner with me which she refused saying she had an appointment. I felt bad because I wanted to make it up to her, but I guess she was still mad at me. The rest of the weekend passed with me partying as always. We had our lab class on Tuesdays. After spending time with her for some months I found out that she hated being stressed by anybody and avoided any stress that she could not handle. We got along well, and I was actually doing my share of the project well. We were about to go on spring break when I met her at her workplace.
