Foolish!

Author POV “Three f*cking days, Mom?!” Kevin’s voice thundered through the room, his chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. Carolina, unfazed, calmly chewed her breakfast. Across from her, Kevin stood with his palm pressed against the glass table, his knuckles white from the pressure. “She’s nowhere!” he yelled, his voice laced with frustration. “Tell me, Mom, where did she go? She has nowhere to go! And you’re just sitting here, acting like it doesn’t matter? I can’t believe you’re this calm! You’re not even trying to find her!” Carolina finally looked up, her expression eerily calm. “What’s wrong, Kevin?” Kevin let out a sharp scoff, disbelief flashing across his face. “What’s wrong? Mom, are you even listening to me? Rosalie... she’s nowhere! We need to bring her back. She has no one, no place to go! Are you seriously not worried about her whereabouts? She’s our little Rosa, Mom!” His voice cracked in rage, desperation creeping in. “Kevin! Watch your tone. Why are you so desperate to find her? Boy, did you forget? She slapped you! She was ungrateful. I don’t care about her and you should forget about her too.” Kevin’s knuckles turned white at her words. He slammed on the glass table and threw the plates from the table, making loud shattering noises. “I can’t believe it, Mom! She was like your own daughter! You raised her!” he spat, totally not believing whatever his mother was saying. “It was all my fault! F*ck it!” He stomped out of the dining hall. Carolina looked at him in disbelief and shook her head. For the first time in years, Kevin had defied his mother. Maybe he was acting like that because they grew up together. “Unbelievable.” she muttered under her breath. “Tsk... foolish boy.” || At Afternoon || Rosa wore a simple dress, the fabric flowing gently around her as she stood in front of the mirror, her fingers carefully fixed her hair. She took one last glance at her reflection before walking out of the mansion. As expected, the car was parked at the end of the driveway. Chris looked up when he saw her approaching. He straightened his posture and bowed his head a little before opening the door for her. Rosa hesitated for a moment, then climbed into the car, the door clicking shut behind her. The car pulled away. Rosa’s gaze remained fixed on her lap, her fingers nervously tapping against the fabric of her dress. After a while, the familiar streets came into view, and Rosa’s heart skipped a beat. She suddenly straightened in her seat. “Stop!” The car screeched to a halt. Chris frowned, his eyes flicking to the frontview mirror. They were still in a little distance from the cafe, the cafe could be seen from the place. Why had she asked him to stop now? Rosa held the door knob, but she struggled to open it. The uncertainty in her movements didn’t go unnoticed by Chris. Chris sighed, then stepped out of the car, quickly walking around to her side. He opened the door for her and Rosa slowly stepped out. “Is there any problem?” Chris asked in a formal tone. Rosa looked up at him, her eyes full of quiet desperation. “Can we.. stop here? I... I don’t want them to see me... riding in a car.” Her voice faltered, her gaze dropping to the ground and she tried to steady her nerves. Chris seemed to understand and nodded. “Alright.” He agreed because the cafe could be seen from there, it was just a little distance away. “Thank you.” Rosa mumbled with a little bow which made Chris frown. “You won’t have to do that.” he said. Rosa hesitated and nodded before turning around. She walked toward the cafe while Chris watched her to make sure she entered in safely. He tapped on the Bluetooth over his ear. “Boss, she is in.” “Come to my office.” Killian’s voice cracked through the Bluetooth. ——— Killian was sitting in his office when he heard the knock on the door. He permitted, and Chris entered. He took a seat and waited for Killian to speak. “That trusted driver, Is he fine now? Hire him as soon as possible. I can’t let you drive every day when you have lots of work pending here.” Killian spoke in his usual calculating voice. “I know. I’ve already informed him. You know this isn’t that easy to find a trusted man in a world like this. He’ll be joining from tomorrow.” Killian nodded at his words. His gaze turned cold before he shifted his eyes at Chris again. “The investigation hasn’t made any progress?” Chris shook his head. Killian sighed and stood up. Fixing his tuxedo, he strode toward the door. Chris stood up as well. “Where are you going?” Chris asked, following his boss. “To that bastard!”
