I could not sit down and watch my ex-husband destroy my life once again; all I had done was not enough, so I thought of visiting him in jail. I had to make things right and deliver the restraining order myself. As I stood there in front of my ex-husband, I felt a mix of emotions swirling inside me. For years, I had tried to move on from the pain he had caused to build a new life for myself and our daughter, but now I find myself once again face-to-face with the source of so much heartache. The visitation room was stark and cold, the fluorescent lights casting a harsh glow over the space. My ex-husband looked smaller than I remembered, a shadow of the man he had once been.
