"Tonight, I have to see her," Eddy interjected, her voice surprisingly resolute.
"I hate you, sister. In fact, you're not my sister," I snapped, frustration and hurt bubbling to the surface. Eddy's declaration stung, but I knew there was more at play here than just a simple meeting.
"Why are you thinking? Let's go, it's almost dark and we can't be late," she urged, her voice filled with excitement. "I will buy a few presents for your sister's daughter as well!"
Her enthusiasm only amplified my nervousness. "You will be the end of me, so demanding," I squeaked, my words barely audible. Eddy's smile faded as she noticed the unease etched across my face. Concern filled her eyes as she approached me, gently placing a hand on my arm. "What's wrong? Is everything alright?"
