Caden Stewart
Once I heard the loud gun shot, I instantly went towards the entrance door and tried my best to open it. "Bullshit! Don't just stare at me! Come and help me with this!" I shouted at my family as I tried opening the door.
Nathan moved and look for something that is hard enough for us to open the damn door. We were busy with what we are doing when the police arrived.
They immediately helped us opening the door. We use our strength and finally, the door opened but the scene that we all witnessed crushed my heart. Sabrina is on the floor with her blood on the floor. I immediately run towards her calling out for her name.
"Sabrina! Hey babe! Open your eyes!" I said as I try to gently slap her face but she's not responding at all.
"Man, you carry her out of this place and bring her to the hospital. She's bleeding," says Nathan who is standing behind me.
I carried her out of the house. I immediately went inside the cars back seat and let Nathan drive for us. "Can you try waking her up," says Nathan who started the engine.
"I'm trying man! But she's not responding at all," I replied as Nathan drives us off the busy street. Nathan drives as fast as he could.
"Come on Sabrina, hold on!" I said. She is still bleeding. And I really don't know what is happening.
After almost twenty minutes of driving, Nathan finally parked the car in front of the hospital. I immediately run inside. Nurses were too quick and took Sabrina from me and puts her in a hospital bed.
"Sir, I advise you to stay here and wait," says one of the nurses.
"No, my wife and my child are in danger! They need me in there!" I replied furiously. How can I just stay here and wait when my wife and my child is fighting for their dear life?
"Please sir. Calm yourself down and wait for them," the nurse replied. I was about to answer when Nathan suddenly appeared and told the nurse to go.
"Man, calm down," he said.
"Dude! Can you hear yourself? How can I even calm down!" I replied. Nathan shakes his head and looked at me.
"Caden! Listen to me. Sabrina wouldn't like to see like this. Acting like a stupid man! She won't even talk to you, I'm telling you!" he said that made me stop.
Nathan grabbed that chance to pull me on the waiting chairs just in front of the operating room. Nathan and I talked for a while until one nurse came out from the operating room. I stand up from my seat and stopped the nurse.
"What is going on with my wife? Is she alright? Are they alright?" I asked.
"Sir, I - I don't have the right to disclose any information. Excuse me," she replied and walked away. Another nurse came out of the operating room with a worried look.
"Damn, what is going on!" I said in frustration.
Nathan tapped my shoulder. "Come on, calm down. Let's just wait," says Nathan. I just sit down on the chair and clasped my palm. I heaved a deep sigh. Then an image of Raine pointing a gun towards Sabrina while she's already down on the floor even adds up with the heat of anger I'm feeling.
"What's happening? Is there any update?" says my mom who just arrived.
Nathan was the one who answered for me. My mom sits beside me and tapped my hand. "You need to be strong son," she said.
I stayed quiet and prayed quietly. I don't know what will happen to me if something bad happen to my wife and my child. They're both precious to me. "Raine is already in the police station," my mom said.
I looked at her. "That's good to hear. She deserves it," I replied. My mom heaved a deep sigh.
"I really didn't expect her to do such thing. She can take away someone's life just for her own good and satisfaction," she said to which I nodded.
Even if Raine has
After almost an hour of waiting, the doctor finally approaches us. I push myself up of the chair. My mother followed my action and stayed behind me. "Are you her husband?" she asks me.
"Yes doc. How is she? How is my child? Are they alright? Are they safe now?" I asked.
The doctor heaved a sigh. "I- is something wrong?" I asked once again.
"Mr. Stewart. Your wife is now in stable situation but is still unconscious," she said.
I feel a burst of relief after hearing that from her. But it suddenly disappeared after I saw sadness that passes through the doctors' eyes. "Is there any problem" I asked.
The doctor looks at me intently. "Mr. Stewart. I'm sad to inform you that you and your wife loss the baby."
I was not able to react after hearing that news. Even if the doctor leaves, I still can hear what she's saying. I clenched my fist and hit the wall. How did I let all of this happen? I should be the one to protect them but I did nothing.
My father followed the doctor. My mother and Nathan stayed with me. "Son, you still have your wife with you. You didn't loss her," my mother said to me as she comes closer to me and touch my shoulder.
"This is all my fault mom. We lost our baby because of me."
My mom just hugged me. We stayed like that until my father speaks. "Your wife is already in her private room. We can all now go and see her," he said.
Once I'm inside the room, mixed emotion envelopes me as I watch Sabrina laying on the hospital bed. I walked closer to her. I pulled a chair and set it next to her bed.
My wife is still beautiful despite the fact that she's there fighting for her dear life. Seeing her like this pained me. She's always the victim in our story. She's been fighting alone.
I touched her forehead down to her lips. This face, this face has been my happy pill. A tear rolls down my cheek. How can I tell her about her miscarriage? What would she do?
I hold her hands and intertwined our fingers. "Sabrina, please wake up for us, for me," I said as I kissed the back of her hand.
All of a sudden, Sabrina moves her finger. "Sabrina?" I said.
She just moved. I watch as she slowly opened her eyes. "Babe, you- you're finally awake," I said with pure excitement. She just stared back at me.
"Babe, it's me, Caden. Your husband," I said.
"How is the baby?" she suddenly asked. That's when I become speechless. I'm still not ready to tell her that we just loss the baby.
"Babe, have some rest first," I replied as I smiled trying to hide the pain.
"No Caden! Howis my baby?" she asked. She tried to get up from the bed but I immediatelymoved. I tried to calm her down but she's not listening until my parents andNathan came in. They're all worried after seeing Sabrina cried on my shoulderstill looking for the baby.
Sabrina Meyers
A small sad smile crept on my lips. It's been a month since the day I lost my baby. It's been a month but I still cannot fully accept the fact that our unborn baby just left us.
Throughout that month, a lot of things happen. My parents went to Hawaii and spend half of the month there. Caden's parents went to a tour to Europe. Yes, our parents decided go get away from everything. They were also affected by my miscarriage. They also loss their first grandchild.
Nathan, Caden's brother, went to New York because his new project is in there. My friend, Ema is now dating. Nah, she has a boyfriend now. My other friend Ava and her husband Luke, are really a sample of happily married couple. They were happy taking good care of their child.
"A penny of your thought," says Caden who hugged me from behind.
We are currently at our rooms balcony. I smiled as I look up in the sky. "I'm just thinking about our parents and friends," I replied.
"They're all happy now."
"Yeah. before everything happen, I thought, I'll stay lonely forever after what Ava and Luke did to me. But, I was wrong," I said.
"Hmm, very wrong," he agreed to which I smile.
We were quiet for some time before I remembered something.
"I hope Raine will recover," I said. Yeah, that even adds up with what I'm thinking. After the incident, Raine was brought to the police station.
According to the police officers who talked to me at the hospital, Raine was telling things that they don't understand that's why they sent her to the mental hospital.
After a week, we just heard the news that Raine lost her sanity. When we visited her, she was just smiling at us. She just talks to us like we are kids. She's acting like a child. Her specialist told us that there are times that Raine would just laugh then cry then stops talking and just softly talk to herself.
"I hope so," says Caden. I feel really sad for what happened to Raine. A beautiful woman like her lost everything because of her own greediness.
I heaved a deep sigh and push those thoughts out of my nerves. "Do you think; our baby is as bright as those stars up in the sky?" I asked diverting the topic.
I feel Caden kissed my neck. "She's the brightest of all," he replied.
I turned my head to face him. "She?" I asked with curiosity.
Caden nodded and put his head at the crook of my head. "Yes, she. I want her to be a girl. I want her to be my princes," he replied to which I smiled.
"I wish I can go back to that time and just stayed by your side. Maybe. Just maybe, Raine would never think of hurting you," he said. I can sense sadness in his voice.
I turned and face him. "You know what Caden, you don't need to blame yourself for what happened. Painful, yes it is. Nothing is painful but to loss a baby. Miscarriage really hits me hard," I said as I touch his face. Caden stared back at me and lifted his hand. He used his thumb to wipe my cheek.
"You're tearing," he said.
I smiled. I didn't even feel those tears fell down my cheeks. "I can't stop myself from tearing up especially when you blame yourself for everything that happened," I replied.
"I'm sorry," he said.
I heaved a deep sigh and tiptoed to give him a kiss. I pulled myself away from him but he pulled me again for another deep and passionate kiss until we run out of breath. "We may loss our baby but we still have each other. Maybe, we are really destined to stay in this marriage. It's destined that we live together and have more babies," he said that make me smile. I kissed him again. I'm really happy that Caden became my husband.
"Ah, it's time for us to sleep my dear wife," he said.
"Of course, but can I have a favor to ask," I said as I smiled sheepishly to him.
"What is that?"
"Can you carry me?" I asked making him smile.
"I can always carry you if you want," he said. In just a swift, I'm now carried by him.
The next day, Caden and I decided to just stay home. We even asked our parents to come. When both our family confirmed that they'll be coming, I asked Magie to help me prepare for our food.
"This is what I've been waiting for," says Elizabeth as we eat snack at the back of the house.
"Ah, of course. I really didn't expect that this marriage that was arranged by our husband did work," seconds my mother.
"I'm the witness of everything," says Magie who, I actually didn't notice, is now standing behind me. My mom and Elizabeth laughed.
"Stop. I'm still here. Hello!" I said trying to catch their attention.
"Oh, yeah. But we love talking about your marriage with Caden," says Elizabeth.
"But not now that I'm here sitting just in front all of you."
"Why is that?" asks my mom.
"It's like you're talking about my whole life. I don't want to listen to all of those kinds of - how do I even say it?" I said making them laugh.
My mom just tapped my shoulder before she faces Magie and Elizabeth and continued talking about my marriage. I tried to stop them but they just don't want to stop so I decided to go to the kitchen and make some more snack.
"Why did you leave them?" asks someone from behind.
I turned around and face Caden. Yeah, I can easily tell that it's him. "Because they're out of snack," I replied. He just nods his head and walk towards me.
"Ah you can't lie to me. I know there's a reason," he said to which I nodded. I told him about it and he just simply laughed.
"Come on, they're all waiting for us," says Caden as he gently grabbed me by my hand.
A pure and sincere smile formed on my lips as I see my family interact with each other. This is the family that I've been dreaming. "You love what you see?" Caden asks.
"Yes, I love it!" I replied to which he smiles.
He pulled me towards him and give me a kiss just in front of my parents. I hear my parents' cheers for us. I smiled between in between kisses. This is life...
This is the perfect trap that ever happened in my life. A marriage trap.
