Trapped into Love

Chapter 10

Sabrina Meyers (POV)

It's been days since I saw Caden. He is still in Korea for something. I don't even know if he'll be back this evening. I can't think straight since the day he treated me coldly. Lots of questions popped up my mind. Am I seeing the other side of him that everyone is talking about? Or did I just assume that Caden really changed just for me?

I can't stop myself from thinking about the possibilities that Caden's sudden change of attitude has something to do with my confession about my feelings towards him. Am I too fast to confess to him about what I really felt for him?

A loud knock coming from my door brought me back to my senses. "Come in please," I said.

The door opened and Luz entered wearing a smile. "Sabrina, someone wants to see you," she said. I looked at her with curiosity. Who would it be? Is it again Luke? If yes, what does he need? Why did he suddenly showed up? I heaved a deep sigh.

"Is it him again?" I asks as my eyes travelled down to the bouquet of white and red roses on the couch. It was delivered just a while ago. And the letter says it's from Luke. It has words of confessions in it. He is really doing his best to get me again.

"No. He never showed up this time. Maybe he is already tired," replied Luz to which I smiled.

"Then who is my visitor?"

"Well, according to her, she's a friend of yours," she replied. A small smile crept on my lips. Maybe it's Ema. I nodded at Luz and tell her to let the friend of mine in. She smiled back at me and walks away to let my visitor in.

When the door of my office opened, another unexpected visitor appeared. I swallowed hard and clenched my fist just to calm down myself. The fact that I've moved on from the past, something inside me still wants to slap the hell out of this woman. After all this time, here she is, showing her face infront of me.

"Sab- Sabrina," she said. I meet her eyes but she just looked down and stared at the floor. She was staring on it like it's the most interesting thing in the world.

I just stayed silent and watch her every move. I look at her from head to toe until my eyes finally landed on her stomach. My eyes literally widened when I realize one thing. "Are you pregnant Ava?" I asked making her look up at me.

She smiled with sadness and nodded. "It's not that visible. I need to stare at you for a long time before telling that you're pregnant," I said as I nodded.

"I'm six months pregnant now," she replied. "People always tell me the same thing," she added.

Even if Ava betrayed me, seeing her now with that stomach, a part of me is happy for her. I don't know but I can't stop myself feeling that for her. I smiled. "Congratulations, please have a seat. I don't want to see you standing while you're carrying a baby inside," I said motioning to the couch. I watch her as she sits down.

I straightened myself on my swivel chair. All the hate that I've been hiding deep in my heart suddenly disappeared after seeing her in her state. I cannot even find anger as I look at her.

"What is this surprise visit all about?" I asked.

She just stared at me. Her eyes is full of sadness. This is not the confrontation I was expecting to happen. I thought, once I see her again, I will slap her or even pull her hair and do anything I want just to hurt her physically. But this, all of this, it's just unbelievable. "Come on, you can tell me," I said as I pushed myself up of the swivel chair and walks towards her.

I sit beside her. "I - I'm sorry Sabrina. I'm very sorry for everything that I've done. I know, you cannot forgive me. What I've done to you is unforgivable," she said as she face me. Her tears are rolling down her cheeks. I shake my head and heaved a sigh.

I pulled her hands and give her a comforting touch. How can't I be so cruel like other woman who caught their man cheating on them. How can I not be mad to a woman who once pained me.

"It's easy to forgive but it takes time to forget Ava. But no matter what happen, I can still be the friend that you once met," I replied. I am sincere about what I said. I can always be a friend of her again.

"I know. I know. I tried to contact you but you never replied," she said. "I wanted to tell you how I regret all my actions," she added.

"I ignored your messages because I don't want to hear any news from you," I replied. I don't want to ruin my happiness.

Ava just smiled at me. The room was filled with silence after I said those words. "Anyway, let's not talk about what happened in the past. Let's talk about your pregnancy," I said.

Her expression suddenly changed after that. "I- I actually have a favor to ask you," she replied. I can see hesitation in her eyes. The only time that I saw that kind of thing in her eyes.

I just keep silent and wait for her to continue. "I- I know that Luke is still trying his best to get you back," she said to which I nodded. I won't deny that thing.

Luke has been doing things to have me back. Even if I already told him that I'm married and I learned to love Caden, he is still trying. For the past days, he's been sending bouquet of flowers for me. He even tried to corner me in the elevator or in the parking lot of the company.

I talked to him for almost three times and told him to stop what he is doing because it will never change what happened in the past. He already did scarred me and I've totally moved on. I am now moving forward with my life with my husband. That's what he cannot accept.

"What about Luke?" I asked Ava.

"He is the father of this unborn child," she replied. My jaw dropped because of what she said. How dare that man ask for a second chance when he is turning his back on his responsibility.

"Does he even know that you're pregnant?" I asked.

"The time I told him about my pregnancy, he told me that it's not his. He accused me of manipulating him- "

"Manipulating? How can you manipulate him if you've been together since the day I accept his proposal to be my boyfriend?" I interrupted her. Where did he gain the confidence to turn down his own flesh?

"I- I actually lied. Luke and I started having an affair when he gave you the engagement ring," she immediately replied making me stare at her.

"Hmm, what do you want me to do then?" I asked.

She looked at me and smiled. "Can you talk to him and tell him to be responsible enough and accept this unborn child. I don't want this child to be raised with a broken family."

"Did you try talking to him?" I asked.

She nodded. "I talked to him yesterday. But - he- he just told me to stay out of his life and run away. He told me that he wants to get you back," she replied. I can see pain in her eyes. The pain that I felt when I caught them having their happy time.

I immediately take that memory out. It's not the time to remember the past again. I've already moved on and I have my own life and a new problem to face.

"I'll try to talk to him and tell him about the thing you told me. He should be responsible enough," I said to which she nodded. If Luke will show up again, I'll tell him to support his unborn child.

"Thank you Sabrina. You really are a kind hearted person. Your husband is lucky to have you," she smiled, with pure sincerity.

"Nah, I doubt it," I replied with a smile on my lips. A fake smile. I doubt it if my husband is really lucky to have me. This past weeks, he's been so distant to me. He doesn't even send me messages like what he does before.

The last time he came home late and drunk, I saw a woman's lipstick on his collar. The reason why told him that he really enjoyed the night.

"Nah, he's really lucky!" says Ava that startled me.

"Whatever. Whatever," I just replied making her laugh. This is the friendship that Ava and I have before I discovered the fact that she's been having an affair with Luke.

"Why do I feel like you're having a problem?" she suddenly said making me smile.

"I don't have any problem. It's just that, my husband is not lucky because I am the lucky one," I replied. Even if I have a problem with my marriage right now and I already had the closure with Ava, I still don't want to share something important with her. She might use my problem against me.

We talked for almost an hour before she finally said goodbye. According to her, she has something important to do. She needs to prepare for dinner with her parents.

After she left, I busied myself doing paper works. If not because of Luz who came in my office, I wouldn't even bother to know the time. And before, I fix my desk, I did the last thing I don't want to do. I dialed Luke's number and talked to him. Now is the time to have a very serious talk with him.

When he answered my call, I immediately told him about the reason why I called him. He was happy for what I've told him but I just let it slide. Once I put down the line, I headed out of my office.

I need to leave the office. I need to prepare myself and make sure that Luke will see what he lost. I will make him realize that I'll not going to go back to him since he doesn't know how to take good care of me.

"You're early?" Magie said as we crosses path at the living room.

"Yes, I need to prepare myself. I'm going to meet Luke outside. Need to put an end for everything," I honestly replied. Magie nodded at me.

"Do I need to cook for - "

"Nah, it's fine. I'll eat outside," I replied to which she nodded.

When she turned away and walks towards the kitchen, I went upstairs.

Once I'm in my room, I went to my closet and look for a dress. When I'm done choosing, I headed to the bathroom and had my bath. After staying in the bathroom for I don't know how long, I finally find myself dressing.

I smoothed my white dress and just let my hair down. I turned sideways to study myself in the wall mirror. I smiled as I saw my reflection.

There is something different about me that I couldn't quite put a finger. My features seemed softer than before. This is the Sabrina that I want to show to Luke. I'm going to have a talk with Luke. Today, I'm going to end everything and cut our connection.

I turned the lights off and strolled out of my room. Magie meet me at the entrance of the house. "Good luck. I hope Luke will set you free," she said. I smiled and give her a thumbs up.

Yes, I already told Magie about my relationship with Luke. The first time she heard about it, she wasn't taking it seriously. According to her, she can't believe the fact that Luke can hurt a pure hearted woman like me to which I just laughed.

"Yeah, please, wish me luck," I replied before I give her a hug. I went to where my car is parked and climbed into it. Magie give me a wave when I started the engine. I just give her a smile and drive off the street.

After driving for almost half an hour, I finally parked my car in front of the restaurant Luke and I used to eat. I heaved a deep sigh before I moved and climbed out of the car.

"This is it!" I whispered to myself before I entered the restaurant.

I look around the place and immediately spotted Luke at the corner of the restaurant. He smiled at me and I did the same. Now is not the time for me to show hate to him. I need to put in mind that I'm doing this not for myself but for Ava and the unborn baby.

"I already ordered for our food," he cheerfully said to which I responded with a smile. He stands up from his seat and pulled a chair for me. 'What a gentleman we have here' I thought.

"You really know my favorite food," I replied to brighten up the atmosphere. I tried to brighten up the air but I still feel uncomfortable while sitting across him.

"I will never forget everything that you like just like how I can't forget you," he replied.

"Can we eat first before we talk?" I replied instead of giving attention to what he said.

If we start talking now, there is a tendency that all this food infront of us will just be wasted. I know Luke, once he doesn't like what he is hearing, he'll just stand and walk away. That's his personality.

In between the meal, he would just ask me simple question like how am I. What do I do inside Cadens mansion or is Caden taking care of me. Sometimes he would just tell story.

"I know that Caden is not taking care of you because I once saw him in a club with another woman," he said making me smile.

"Ah, that thing. He already told me about it. He is sorry. That was one time."

"Really huh? One time but I saw him not just once but twice of thrice but more," he replied.

I just didn't say any word. The pain because of what he is telling me is getting into my nerves. I don't want to hear anything from him about Cadens extra curricular activities. I just continued eating the food infront of me.

When we were both done eating, I started thinking of possible things to tell him. "So, why did you request for my presence. I wasn't expecting a call from you. The fact that you are just ignoring and suddenly calling me is quite surprising," he said. I look at him straight in the eye. We were staring at each other for a long time before I finally had the courage to talk.

"Luke, do you really love me?" I asked. I see different emotions in his eyes. Emotions that I wasn't expecting to see. Love and regret.

"I love you Sabrina. I thought, I was just being forced to be with you that is why I let Ava tempt me. But believe me, after you returned that ring and walk away from me, I realized that I really do love you," he replied.

"You think, exerting effort to have me back will help you now?" I asked again.

He meet my eyes and heaved a deep sigh. "I will do anything for you," he replied.

"You know what Luke, even if you do anything for me, you cannot have me back because I'm already married with someone. Not just someone but your cousin. Do you think it's still not to late for you to make a move?" I said. All of a sudden, the pain that I've been hiding all this months envelopes me.

"I know it's a little bit too late but we can still work this out right?" he said to which I shake my head. I smiled at him.

"Luke, the time I returned the ring to you, I already promised to myself that I'll never allow you to be part of my life again. But, you know, that would be impossible because you are my husband's cousin," I said as I let out a laugh. "Luke, this is our life now, you still have a lot of responsibilities and problem to face," I added when I didn't hear anything from him.

"So, this is the reason why you called me? To tell me to stop and just leave you alone? Sabrina, you know that it would never happen. I'll do everything to have you back," he said.

I heaved a deep sigh. Luke is not thinking well. "Luke, you cannot do that because you already have your own responsibility and that is Ava and the baby!" I replied making him look at me. His eyes is full of shock and curiosity. Why would he feel curious about it?

"Ava? You know something about Ava?" he sarcastically said.

"Yes, I know something about him. And guess what, she really needs you right now. Don't let her face all the consequences alone," I replied as I nodded my head.

Luke look away from me. I studied his face. I smiled at the back of my mind. This man has been my support for how many years. I thought, he'll be the man I'll have until my borrowed life will be taken away from me but I was wrong. Fate has done something that made us apart. Maybe, just maybe, we are not really for each other.

Without even having a second thought, I pulled his had that is on top of the table. "Luke, you need to accept the fact that Ava is now your responsibility. Do not let that innocent child bear all the pain from the past," I said. He stared at my hand that is on top of his and look at me. Our eyes meet. I smiled. That's the only thing I can give him. A smile of peace.

"Can't you really give me another chance to prove myself?"

I just smiled at him and shake my head. "You had all the chances not to cheat on me but you still did Luke. Now, the chance that I can only give you is to make things right. I'm telling you, if you do what I told you, you will find happiness and contentment in your life," I replied to which he smiles.

"I really did a big mistake of letting you go," he said as a drop of tear fell down his cheek. I can tell by now that he really feel sorry for what he did.

"You made a mistake for doing something that hurt someone. Please, Luke, please don't do the same thing again. Face whatever you need to face because that's the only way for you to make a change. Not just for yourself but for your future family," I said.

Luke smile at me and touch my hand. "Now, I'll listen to you," he replied making me smile.

We chatted for a while until we decided to part ways. Luke told me that he'll be paying Ava a visit. "Thank you for helping me out and for making me realize of what is needed to be done," he said when we are finally at the restaurants parking lot.

"No problem," I replied.

"This is hard for me Sabrina. I love you but I know that all the things that you've told me is right. Thank you for the time that you give me and for making me realize that we both have our own responsibilities now," he said.

"Learn to care and love Ava. Give her what you wanted to give me."

"Well, I think, this will be the last time to talk to you," he said to which I nodded.

He moves closer to me and hug me. For me to completely feel the happiness, I hug him back. "Thank you," he said before kissing me on my forehead. We stayed like that for a moment before he finally climbed into his car. I give him one last wave before he drives off the busy street.
