Chapter 52

691 Words
Chapter 52 Jake’s POV, “You're telling me to believe this?” I held my hands up in defeat, it’s just afternoon and there’s been many things going on, strangest of them all is the things Smith’s been confessing in the interrogation. I guess everyone have their breaking point. Weirdly, I can't believe a word Emily’s told me about her. I can't believe this story still had so much room to take this bizarre turn. Probably because my mother figure is reinforced steel, it’s the first time I've witnessed someone like her. “This is what I'm trying to say for the past ten minutes.” Emily is bored, or tired telling me the same story like a broken record, I am the skeptic, for thinking this confession as a script straight out of a novel or a movie. I don’t think it’s just me. I'm pretty sure half the population of this town will have something similar in their minds by the time it will be broadcasted for the nation. I bet there will be a press conference pretty soon. That ain't too long. “For first, we know how Robby’s been choosing his victims. He has an online website for young kids who want to earn some extra bucks. Most of them needs money so badly for their lack of familial support. They are mostly runaway kids with no parents who cares for them. so when he r***s his victims, they can't go anywhere for support.” “Why Ari?” “Ari might’ve lied about her mom or she might be planning to earn some cash to run away.” That makes sense, in some weird way. I mean every predator has an organised way of hunting. “She confessed, she was the one to introduce her to his online portal, encouraged her to work there.” “What did a mom get staking her daughter on the hands of a r****t? She was already sixteen. She would’ve been out of her skin in two more years.” “She recorded all the chats and photos to blackmail him soon as her daughter went missing. She asked for five million in compensation, and a beautiful cabin with a huge backyard.” “Five million? Just five million? Wow.” I paced for the fourth time across my suite. she laughed so laughed I'm almost startles for a minute. “People have killed for much less.” Her face turned to a rock in a splash of a second. “Turns out Robby’s been luring girls with a job-candy to quench his sick fantasies for more than five years and no one ever pressed charges. His clientele provides him all the security. Do you have any idea how much money just that could’ve earned him?” “Honestly,” I scratched my neck, “I'm happy that I don’t know. God, I love my mom more now, at least he didn’t sell me for five millions. I don’t wanna know any more about it.” “But at least Robby knew enough to not let his family involved in his dirt.” It’s funny how we think it’s a relief that Robby did something every parent do. Maybe because he was an emotionless psycho. “None of his children seems to have a clue about his dirty business.” “Until now.” I added. “Yeah, until now. I can't believe I'm taking sides with him on this.” I can't either. “Smith got five mills already, and a house. What more she needed? A f*****g private jet?” She laughed, I ain't joking. “She already exhausted the funds in her gambling. She and Captian were blackmailing Robby for more money. When they couldn’t get more out of him, they had to take actions.” “So, I assume there is no couple in London? It was all them, that was the only reason Captain wanted us to be quiet, because it could’ve warned Robby, and he would’ve confessed their names.” “That was a plot. Their plan was fool proof, who would’ve thought.”
