Catalina He left. I stayed in my room until I could find the confidence to face him but when I did and I walked outside. He was gone. A few hours later someone came to pack up his things. They told me that I would be leaving in the afternoon tomorrow. He just left, like nothing. Especially, after what he just. I couldn't believe it. Ever since my wedding, I have been so confused. I have always liked Adriano. As a young girl, I enjoyed spending time in their home so I could see him. I even thought if I flirted with his brother I would get him to react. I thought for some time that he may be liked me too. I was such an i***t. I couldn't be more wrong. I know what my father did was wrong but I had nothing to do with it. I was always afraid of my father. The minute Mrs. Hernandez came to our home. I was locked in my room. I had already known how to sneak out so I did. They kept her in a guest bedroom. I would bring her tea and cookies when I could. I made sure she was given plenty of water and food. We even talked for a long while when my father was away. I told her about my crush on Adriano. She said she knew about it. We had a lot of lovely conversations. It sort of felt like I had my mother back. I told her about my mother. She said they had met a few times and did notice she had stopped appearing at events. I told her I suspected my father of getting rid of her but I didn't know what to do. She told me she would have Vito and Adriano help me find her. I was happy to hear that. I told her I would help her out of here, no matter what but the next day she was gone. My father had run away and some of his men had dragged me to a safe house. Three days later, my father came to me and told me I was going to marry Adriano. I was delighted but confused. My father told me about some deal and a contract but I didn't really understand anything. He told me I would always be a Santos and needed to know that. Our wedding day soon came and I was somewhat excited. It all came to a crashing halt when Adriano said "I will make you suffer every day for the rest of your life," I felt the tears form and I felt like a prisoner from that moment on. He hated me. I didn't know what I could do or say to change his mind but I knew Adriano. He wasn't so easily persuaded. Now, here I was packing from our short honeymoon. He just wanted information from me. I gave him that so he didn't need me anymore. What was I going to do? I couldn't face him. I felt so stupid. The Next Day "Catalina, how are you? How was it?" Mrs. Hernandez asked. She had set up some tea and tiny sandwiches in the garden. "It was nice," I said. "I got to read and go in the pool. The sky was beautiful. I mean everything was." "That's it," she said. "You didn't leave the resort. Or do anything together?" "No, not really," I said. "Well, we did go swimming." Mrs. Hernandez smiled and then laughed softly. "Well, my son is a bonehead," she said. "Doesn't know how to have fun." "It was nice, I had a good time," I smiled. "Good," she smiled back. "Have you seen him?" I asked. "No, dear," she replied. "He went to Brasil from Bora Bora." "Oh, okay," I said. "He will be back soon," she said. I smiled slightly. I think I was happy he wasn't here. I didn't want to face him yet. After tea, I walked around the house. "Hey, stranger," Vicente said. He startled me. "Want to hang out later?" "Um, I don't think," "Don't think, just do. Remember like you used to," he said. I smiled and just nodded yes. I went to take a shower and get dressed. Vicente was already waiting for me downstairs. We went to a nice ramen restaurant. We laughed and chatted about our past. We used to have so much fun and do so many bad things when we were younger. "I wish we could back to those days," I told him. "I don't. I much prefer you like this," he smirked. "You are much prettier." "Oh shut up," I said. "Let's go out to a club next, I want to dance," Vicente said. "I wouldn't mind seeing you dance." "No, definitely not. It was risky enough coming to dinner with you," I said. "Oh come on, my brother isn't even here," he said. "And I doubt he would care." I felt my heart cringe with pain. Vicente was right. He wouldn't care. He would be mad at me whether I go or not. He would still hate me. "Okay, let's go," I said. We drove to a club called Treasures and Lust. Vicente took us to a private area and ordered bottle service. I really didn't want to drink but I let peer pressure take over. I immediately got tipsy. I could feel the music calling my name. I got up and went to go dance. Vicente stayed behind to chat up some waitress. I felt the music all through my body. Two guys got close and started dancing near me. I felt one guy's hand land on my waist. "Having fun?" I heard Adriano's voice say. I looked around and he was nowhere to be seen. I continued dancing thinking it was all in my head. The other guy came to whisper something in my ear. Suddenly, the two men were dropped to the floor and I was dragged into a private room. "Hello, Catalina,"
