Adriano
"Yes, tell me if he meets with anyone else," I was on the phone with one of my men when suddenly I see HER. She was wearing a short silk lavender nightgown. She looked stunning even though I knew she had just woken up. She saw me and immediately started to fidget. I gestured for her to sit. I was still on the phone so I didn't want to acknowledge her. There was plenty of food on the table. I was sitting outside eating breakfast. She looked hesitant to take anything. I huffed and gave her an annoyed look. I gestured for her to take something and so she did. She grabbed some poached eggs and an English muffin. She quickly began to eat. I guess she must have been hungry. Since we don't speak, I don't think she bothers to ask or say she is hungry. It was a long flight and then drive here. She had to have been hungry. I watch a bit fascinated at how she let her guard down and began to eat like a child. We were both raised the same. She went to the same private schools I did as did my brother. She was taught how to be a lady and eat properly. If her father and mother could see her now. I finally got off my call and looked at her more intently.
"I am so sorry," she said. "I shouldn't be eating so hastily."
'It's fine," I told her. "This is for the both of us. It's best it gets eaten then thrown out." She slightly smiled and continued eating.
"Why are we here?" she asked. Ah, she was getting bolder. I knew that curious outgoing little kid had to be in there somewhere.
"My mother said we needed a proper honeymoon," I told her.
"Since when do you listen to anyone," she snapped.
"I always listen to my parents or don't you remember," this time she smiled widely.
"Adriano, I know you hate my father and me but," she paused. "I don't know what to do to make you happy."
"You want to make me happy?" I questioned.
"Well, we are married now, so," she hesitated to finish.
"You cannot make me happy, Catalina. I do hate your father. I hate everyone in your family. Every Santos to have existed and any who could possibly still be able to exist."
"Then are you going to kill me?" I was surprised by her question.
"Not yet," I said simply. Her face looked stunned. She drank some orange juice and got up. I watched her walk back into the bedroom.
I grabbed my laptop and began to do some work out here as the breeze blew back my hair. A few minutes later, I saw Catalina pacing around the living room area. She was looking around the room.
"Catalina!" I called. I startled her. She jumped and came running out to me.
"What is it?" she asked.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"I'm bored. I was looking for a book to read but these books are mostly for show or travel books," she said.
"You are distracting me from my work, go to bed if you are bored," I told her. She sighed and then huffed back into the bedroom. I made a few phone calls and got back to work. I think she must have gone to bed, I didn't see her for the rest of the day.
The Next Day
"Morning," she said softly.
"Hello," I said. She sat down to eat breakfast. She never once looked up at me. I decided not to look at her. When she was done she stood up and went into the living room.
"Oh my goodness," she gasped. "I can't believe it." She went running towards the bookshelf by the wall. She grabbed one of the books and ran to sit on the couch. She happily crossed her legs and began reading. I had all the books replaced with novels, memoirs, and biographies. I added a few of my favorites in there. I continued to work outside and every now and then I would look at HER. She smiled and sometimes looked as if she was on the verge of tears. She read five books today. I made sure someone brought her dinner. I don't think she would have gone to get something to eat herself had I not done that. She was too into her book. I had slept on the couch last night but tonight I decided to do something I knew I was going to regret. I walked into the bedroom. Catalina was in the bathroom. I began to take off my shirt when she suddenly came out of the bathroom.
"Oh," she gasped. "Will you be sleeping here tonight?" I didn't answer. I just continued to take off my clothes. She undid her hair. Her soft curls bounced before they laid over her shoulders. She was wearing a baby blue teddy. It hugged her breasts tightly. She was reluctant to climb into the bed. So I got in first. She soon slid into the bed making sure not to touch me. I turned off the lights and closed my eyes.
"Thank you," she whispered.
"For what?" I asked.
"The books, of course," she replied.
"I just wanted you out of my way," I told her.
"Oh, well, either way, thank you. I am so grateful and happy," she said cheerfully. "I wish I could repay you."
"Perhaps you can," I rolled over and got on top of her. I looked deep into her grey eyes. I wrapped my finger around one of her curls.
"Adriano," she whispered. I inches away from touching her lips.
"You are my wife so you should repay me with some of your wifely duties," I said. I could feel the goosebumps begin to rise on her arm. "Are you afraid?"
"If that is what you want," she whispered.
"Not tonight, but soon," I kissed her lips quickly and then rolled off of her. I slept with my back to her the entire night. Simply touching her lips was enough to send me into a frenzy. I wanted more. I feared for wanting more but I would take it nonetheless.
