Ch. 2 Training

814 Words
Violet's POV I woke up and stretched my arms. Today would be just another day of sameness. Same food, same training, same everything. I start my day by helping the Omegas get breakfast ready. Then, after, breakfast, it was morning training. The Beta was a harsh task master... After training was school. I was average at school. Then homework and afternoon personal training. Then, if there was time, I helped the Omegas with dinner. After getting dressed and helping with breakfast, I arrived at morning training and found my friend, my only friend. She was an Omega. "I wonder what torture the Beta has for us today," I said. "I don't know, but yesterday's marathon wore me out! I almost fell asleep in the garden!" she exclaimed. Stephanie's job was to work in the gardens. She mainly worked with the fruits and vegetables. As she said, flowers were too picky for her. As we talked, the Beta and my brother and sister arrived. My brother, the future Alpha, and my sister, destined to be a Luna somewhere so she says, always led a group during training. I was said to be too weak for that. My father, the Alpha, would already be working on his mountain of paperwork. The Beta stepped forward and announced today's torture: laps and one-on-one fighting. Ugh... I was fine with the running (what werewolf didn't like to run). The one-on-one was more difficult. As a weaker wolf, everyone I paired with was stronger than I was. Even though I was an Alpha's daughter, they didn't cut me some slack. Stephanie gave me a sympathetic look and ran off to the board to see who she was training with. I slowly dragged my feet to the board. The board was my sister's idea. The Beta, my brother, and my sister formed groups each night for the next day's training. They posted them on a bulletin board each morning. I found my name and was surprised to see that I didn't have a partner today. My sister, Cherri, walked up to me "You're going to train with me today since we couldn't think of anyone who would benefit from throwing you around," she stated. I sighed. There was no sisterly love between Cherri and myself. She believed, as everyone did, that I killed our mother. "Lucky me..." I sighed. I got to the back of the group for laps. I tried to get my sister out of my head, but knowing that I was training with the pack goddess was a bit of a pain. She always made sure to make her partner look bad. With me, that wouldn't be difficult. After my birth, it was discovered that I was incredibly weak. My heart was underdeveloped. I was also tiny. My father pretty much ignored me so the Gamma took me to my doctor's appointments as a child until I was grown enough to go to them myself. I received treatment, but they said my heart would probably get better when I got my wolf. I wasn't at risk of dying as long as I took it easy. Training was not easy, but as no one cared about me, they didn't care that I took breaks. One-on-one fights were more difficult since I had to stop to slow down my heartbeats. I wasn't excused from fighting, unfortunately. Cherri was relentless and took advantage of my stops to keep fighting me. After running, we partnered up and began to fight. I hadn't even gotten into the correct stance when Cherri started. All I could do was block. Within seconds, I was on the floor. I took deep breaths and slowly got back up. This continued for several more rounds. Each time I took slower breaths and had a harder time getting up. Cherri rolled her eyes at me and finally walked off. "This is pointless," she muttered as she left to monitor other fights. I just laid there trying to find strength to get up. When I did, I slowly sat on the ground and practiced my slow breaths to help my heart slow down. The Beta walked by and frowned. "What are doing on the ground?" he asked angrily. "I'm...practicing...breathing..." I managed to say between deep breaths. "You should be sparring, not breathing, Violet." "Sorry...Beta Chris. Cherri...left." "Are you blaming your weakness on her?" "No, Sir...I'm just..." "On your feet!" I slowly scrambled to my feet. He walked around me and looked me over. "Get into stance." I slowly moved my body into the proper stance. He sighed disgustedly. "Pathetic," he mumbled. He walked away. I stumbled to the benches and laid down, my breathing finally becoming even. After awhile, sparring was finished. Partners shook hands and went to their rooms for a shower before work/school. Stephanie walked towards me and helped me up. "Well, that was fun," she said sarcastically.
