Dillan turns and walks away. I can see the despair in his eyes.
I call after him, "Dillan, wait!"
I angrly push Mario away from me.
"What the f**k are you doing? Why are you here?" I am fuming mad.
"I thought I would surprise you. You know this weekend would normally be my thing." He seemed shocked by the fact that I am so upset.
"Last time I checked, you didn't have any business here in the city. How about we keep it that way."
I rush to catch up with Dillan. I don't want him thinking that there is anything going on between Mario and I. Aware of his feelings towards me, I know he isn't anything other than devasted by what he just witnessed.
"Dillan. Wait. Wait." I grab his hand, forcing him to stop.
"Listen." I begin.
He interrupts. "You don't have to explain."
"But I do. That's my ex Mario. We dated last year and broke up because he slept with my old roommate. I did not ask him to come here."
Dillan's face relaxes. He closes the distance between us and gives me a hug.
"He's a dumbass."
"Agreed."
I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and there is Mario. AGAIN.
"Who the f**k is this? Why are you on my girl?" He is loud and hostile.
"YOUR GIRL!!" I exclaimed. "YOUR GIRL is my roommate that you decided to f**k, REMEMBER!!"
Our shouting is starting to gather a crowd.
Dillan steps between us.
"Man, I don't know you but you need to back off. Obviously, she is not interested in anything yo stupid ass has to say."
Weasling my way between the two of them, I push both of them aside.
"Enough! Y'all out here looking stupid as f**k right now. Dillan, I will meet you where we discussed earlier. Mario, go the f**k home!!"
Both of them stand there staring at me, while glaring at each other. Dillan walks away, meeting up with his group of friends. I can see him gesturing, propbably explaining what just happened. A few of them look like they are ready for a fight.
So grateful that was avoided.
Mario has a dumbfounded look on his face.
"Meredith! Who was that clown?"
I pick my bag up off the ground. I can feel my blood pressure rising, and the heat radiating from my chest. I look him dead in the eyes, and with the spirit of my grandmother slapped the dog s**t out of him. Oohhhs and Ahhhs can be heard from all around.
"I can't believe you! How dare you come here, with no warning, and show your ass. What...you thought it was going to get yousome cool points? I have no desire, interest, need, want, or urge to be with someone who willing to take advantage of my feelings. You decided that it was ok to not only cheat on me, but cheat on me with someone that I trusted you to be around, so much so that I invited her to f**k you."
Mario seems desperate to get a word in. I don't want to hear it.
"Not only did you mess around with her behind my back, but you keep dealing with her even after I was gone. I don't have time for your s**t. I DO NOT WANT TO BE WITH YOU!! Let me make that perfectly clear."
He has had the same stunned look on his face since the moment I hit him. With the stinging subsiding, I push past him heading in the direction of my car.
He doesn't follow.
Laura comes running over. "What the hell was that?"
"What was that? What were you talking to him for? Why even entertain him?" At this very moment, my irritation gets the best of me. Her eyes are wide, surprised.
"Don't come for me Meredith. I have nothing to do with your issues with him. He spoke. Was I supposed to be rude and walk away?"
I stop. "Yes! Yes you were!" I open the back passenger door and throw my stuff in.
"Seriously?" She responds.
I get into my car.
"Don't worry about it. Not your issue."
I slam the door, start the engine, and watch Laura jump back as I pull off.
Why is it so hard for me to make a clean break? Especially from a person who is responsible for the break in the first place. I never understood why the dudes feel like dating gives you unlimited access even after you break up. I haven't seen or talked to Mario since the holidays. It's almost April. What delusional world was he living in?
I need a drink!
I rummage around the passenger seat looking for my phone. I retrive it and send Dillan a text letting him know that I would be there in five minutes. He replies with simple "Ok."
Deep breath in.....EXHALE...
I find a parking spot. Sitting there, I close my eyes, taking the time to compose myself. The last thing I want is to hurt Dillan's feelings. He hasn't done anything wrong here.
"Ok Meredith. Everything will be ok." I take one last calming breath, grab my wallet, and step out the car.
Dillan is standing outside waiting.
"Hey." Quickening my pace, I hurry to get to him. I must say, there was a little fire lit when he stood up for me.
"Hey." A reassuring smile ever present on his face.
"Looks like you could use a drink." We walk over to a table he had already reserved for the two of us. There are a few people from the show mingling, but right now, I am in no mood to socialize.
"Here you go. I got your favorite. Patron and Red Bull."
"You know the way to my heart."
The burn of the Patron, soothes away all of my pent up frustration. I relax into my chair.
"Thank you, Dillan. I appreciate you."
"No problem. He threw me off a little bit, but your face told me he wasn't anyone you wanted around. Just wanted to make sure buddy didn't try anything crazy."
I smile.
"And I heard you smacked the s**t out of him too? How did I manage to miss that?"
My face blushes. I'm embarrassed. I have never hit anyone, let alone slapped a man across his face...in PUBLIC!
"He had it coming." Now that I think about it, it's definitley a noted memory from the weekend.
Snickering and sipping, "Enough about him. How have you enjoyed your weekend? What is the hoetation you thought it would be?"
Even though he thinks he is hiding it, I can tell by his face he has had a pretty exceptional time.
"It was much needed. Best part was getting to see you. That was the only reason why I came."
"You are so sweet. I am so glad I got to hang out with you. Long overdue."
We spend the next couple of hours talking, laughing, exchanging innocent flirting gestures here and there. The drinks seemed to be coming on regular rotation and before I knew it, I was toasted. Tomorrow is Sunday, and the only plans I have are with my bed, so I am all for this inebriation.
"Are you ok to drive?"
"Are you?" Me and my smart ass mouth.
"I didn't drive. I got dropped off." His tone sharp.
"I suppose you will be driving my car then." I hand him the keys.
He drives us to my place, which is in walking distance of where he has been staying. I invite him up, as to not be rude. Once instead, I tell him to make himself comfortable, while I change.
I splash some cool water onto my face, patting it dry, and wiping away any excess mascara left around my eyes. The toll of the day is starting to show, and sleep begins to settle over me. Walking into the living room, I notice that Laura isn't home.
"Hmm..must be out with Luna."
"Did you say something?" Dillan asks. He is standing over my the window, admiring the view that greets me every morning.
"Oh, no. Just thinking out loud."
We both take a seat on the sofa. Laying across it is my favorite throw. I wrap it around my shoulders, and rest my head on his.
His hand caresses my cheek, and he puts a perfectly placed kiss on my forehead. I lift my head, tilting it back slightly. He turns towards me, flashes a grin and embraces my lips. His passion intently placed enticing me to return the gesture.
I comply, allowing myself to melt into him. I climb on top, straddling him. He places his hands around me, hands resting on the top of my ass. He takes a handful. His manhood surfaces below me.
Hello there.
All lanes are pointing in the direction of heated displays, putting a final cap on his hoeish vacation.
But, I cannot. Mentally, I am all in and ready for the session to begin. Below, Lucy is passed the hell out. Maybe if he talks to her...
Dismounting off of his lap, I grab his hand and lead him to my room, closing the door behind us. He kisses me again and he guides me down onto the bed. My leggings are removed with grace. Dropping to his knees, Dillan takes both of my legs and places one on either shoulder. I close my eyes, trying to relax and welcome what is to come.
I can't.
The warmth of his mouth sparks a little curiosity out of my Lucy. As he begins to have his private conversation with her, I am overwhelmed with guilt. A sense that this is wrong, that somehow I am cheating.
How can this be? I am in no relationship, more like an understanding. There are always questions of "who's is it and who do I belong to", but isn't that how most s**t talking goes during s*x? I am sure he is not asking me those questions looking for an honest response.
Or is he.
I try my best to enjoy, to engage in anyway so that I can f**k him with no remorse.
I. Just. Can't.
"I can't do this." I whispered.
"What?" Dillan's head reappears from inbetween my legs.
"I'm so sorry." I use my elbows to prop myself up. "I can't do this."
Again, the look of disappointment, and yet he continues. Perplexed, I readjust myself, moving away from his mouth. He follows. Holding me now firmly in place.
"Dillan. Please. Stop."
He doesn't. I'm trying to remain calm here.
Am I experiencing this correctly? I just told him I don't want to do this and he is totally ignoring me.
"Dillan!"
He raises from inbetween my legs, straddles me, holding both of my hands above my head by the wrist.
"What are you doing?" Panic is starting to set in. I have never seen his side of him before, never thought he would be capable.
"Look, I came all this way, hoping to see and spend some time with you. You have been wanting this to happen between us for a long time now, so why not just let it happen."
Has he lost his f*****g mind!!
"GET OFF OF ME!!"
He leans down to kiss me. I kick and squirm underneath him trying to get free. His grip on me is tightening and starting to hurt.
"Ouch! You're hurting me! Get off!!"
"Stop moving. Either you can give it up to me or I can take it. Which one? This is what happens when you tease a person."
"Tease!! I haven't teased you!! Please, Dillan. Your're hurting me." Tears fall from my eyes and those tears are what snaps him out of wherever he was in his mind. Afraid, he jumps off of me. I scurry to the back of my bed, bringing my knees to my chest.
"I thought this was what you wanted."
Shouting through my tears, "This! You thought THIS was what I wanted? I told you to stop and you didn't listen to me."
Enraged, I tell him to get his s**t and leave. He apologized profusely, begging me to forgive him and not to hoId it against him. He doesn't know what came over him. I scream for him to leave.
"GET OUT!!"
Laura walks in the room. She takes one look and me, and her eyes turn to fire.
"What the f**k did you do to her?!" She begins pushing Dillan out of my room. I hear her tell him not to ever come back before slamming the door.
I am stuck. Numb. Dazed. Unsure as to what just happened. Why it happened. Laura comes rushing back into my room. She climbs in bed with me, wrapping her arms around me tightly. I bury my head in her shoulders and sob.
I must have cried myself to sleep. Tucked in my bed, my eyes open to the night sky and the lights on around my window. I reach for my phone that was now sitting on the pillow next to me. Of course, there are a ton of missed calls from Mario, Dillan, and Irv. I ignore the first two and call Irv.
"Hello." So thankful to hear his voice. I try to sound as if nothing is wrong.
"Hey you! I haven't talked to you all day. Missed me?"
"You know I did. I had work to distract me though. How did the fashion show go? Those pictures you sent almost had me in the car and on my way."
His laugh so sweet and delightful. I wish he would have came. Would have saved me the trauma I just endured.
"Everything went better than I expected, actually. Not to say I will do it again next year, but it was an absolute blast."
"Meredith?" His voice filled with concern. "Everything ok? You sound a bit, off."
He noticed. Sounding happy when you are totally crushed on the inside is a lot harder than I thought.
Think. Think. If I were to tell him that a guy that I thought was my friend just tried to take advantage of me, he would be after both of our heads.
"Oh, yea. It's just, Mario showed up."
He takes in a sharp breath.
"Mario. Really?" He has never been able to hide is disdain for him.
"Yea...he thought popping up was going to benefit some how. It got him slapped instead."
Irv bursts out in a healthy laugh. Don't think I have ever heard him laugh that hard.
"That's my girl!!"
He's making me feel better already. There is a knock at my door.
"Come in." Laura walks in. She has a tray with tea and a few of my favorite snacks.
"Who's that?" Irv asks.
"It's Laura. Can I call you back?"
"Sure babe. Call me later. Bye."
"Bye."
Laura brings the tray and sits it next to me on the bed.
"How are you feeling?" On her face is the reflection of my inner pain. Torture.
"I don't know how to feel just yet. Still processing and..." tears immediately form in my eyes.
She places her hand on top of mine.
"We can talk about it when you are ready. Ok? I am here no matter what." We embrace. Even with the comfort of knowing that Dillan is gone and Laura is with me, my mind still races.
Why must they all turn on me? Why must I continuously be hurt by those I have been nothing by sweet and caring to? Was it the alcohol that made him lose himself....did I tease him....lead him on....
This was a first and it was damn sure going to be my last.
