PRESENT DAY
My boss, Charlene, announced that she had something important to tell me when I came in to work the next morning. This of course made my heart beat erratically, as I assumed that I was about to either be written up or be fired. There was absolutely nothing in her tone to indicate either of these things, but I tended to assume the worst was perpetually about to happen.
"Charlotte, I have important news for you," Charlene said, and adjusted her reading glasses, "We are going to expand your "Storytime" activity to three days a week. That is, if it's alright with you.
