Anna's POV We give Seraphine her test three days later, and the waiting to see how it comes back is the longest three days of my life. The test is small, deliberately small, real but not vital, exactly the way Evan planned it. There's a shipment of the drug moving through the estate at the end of the week, according to Will's records, and we ask Seraphine to confirm it, to find out the date and the handler and whether it matches what Will told us. If she brings back the truth, matching what we already secretly know, she's real, she's ours, she's looked inside Cass's house and told us straight. If she brings back something false, or if Cass suddenly changes the shipment because he's been warned we're watching, then she's his, and we've learned it while risking nothing that could sink us.
