Chapter Nine December 1986 Janey Almost two months later, Janey still couldn’t believe Beck would do such a thing to her. Sitting on her waterbed, in her parents’ home pouting, she thought of all her foolish plans and schemes; all she did to try and make Beck believe she was the most desirable girl on the planet backfired. When all she had to do was simply love him. It was that easy. Like the Joan Jett song said, “You Don’t Know What You’ve Got Till It’s Gone.” She tried reaching him several times and he rejected her calls in the worst way – slamming the receiver down as soon as he heard her voice.
