Chapter Twenty April 1987 Beck Beck took Janey to a Japanese restaurant in Hackensack to talk. They took such comfort in each other. For the first time, with Beck, or with anyone for that matter, Janey felt a strong sense of security. They talked for hours, like the first night they met the summer before. When the restaurant was closing, Janey said to Beck, “Now what?” and smiled. “I have to go to work tomorrow.” Janey smiled, making a genuine effort not to be jealous or possessive anymore.
