A little bit more disturbing, in the middle of the afternoon, Benjie received a call on his Blackberry from his mother. She told him his father had a very disturbed night and had been having trouble all morning with his breathing. She"d called out Dr. Goldberg, and he"d ordered an ambulance to take Maurice to the hospital for some tests and overnight observation. Benjie replied saying that Papa would hopefully be allowed back home in the morning but asked for her to keep him informed of any developments. He added he expected to be round as usual on Sunday. After the call, Ben felt unusually troubled but worked on nevertheless.
