Eighteen years ago-
"I will kill you if I ever go through this again!" She screamed in agony. Squeezing the hand of her husband, she cried out at her another contraction came. "Someone get this damn baby out of me!"
"You aren't dilated eno-" A flying object cut the nurses words short as she ducked low to the ground, "-ugh. It shouldn't be long now." She turned tail and ran before anything else might be used to accost her.
"My love, they cannot simply force the child out. It could kill her, it could kill you." Her husband tried to calmly reassure her, despite the loss of feeling in his hand, "She isn't a normal child for this world. A Tri hasn't been seen for nearly three millenniums."
Her hands flew up go grab his collar as she dragged him closer to herself, "I care not how long it has been. This child must come, and she must come now. Why do you think there is a Dr from each Realm sitting outside that door? Because none on their own know what to do."
Each contraction brought a new wave of pain wracking through her body. A Tri, the first of her kind to exist in so long that not one person could find a single document on what to do.
For twenty hours her pain had risen, while her patience had grown thin. She would live to see her child. A child foretold almost a century ago. One the people had waited for with baited breathe.
The news of her nuptials, a Fey and Vamprye Hybrid mated to a Lycan, had lit like a wildfire running rampant through dense woods. The announcement of her pregnancy had been no different. A Tribred was coming. A Tribred of Royal blood.
"Cressida, you can and will do this. Your strength knows no bounds. You can and will survive this."
"Whispering sweet nothings will not earn you another child, Maverick." Her tone was biting as the pain began intensifying. "Mav, get the doctors."
"But the nurs-"
"I don't care what the the nurse said! This is child is not waiting anymore, she is coming wether they come to help if not."
As quickly as he could, Maverick bolted through the door calling for any who would listen.
Doctors began rushing through the door moments later. Her bed began to roll as they rushed her into an operating room. Screams tore from her lips as her body began pushing before they had broken through the doors.
As if her daughter knew the pain she was causing, her body seemed to open more. Allowing a wider exit for her child. But only for a split second before the anguish her body felt returned.
"Get the sheet up!"
"Where are my gloves!?"
"Get the oxygen ready!"
The room came alive as every being rushed to prepare for the coming arrival. Maverick stood by his wife's side, dressed in the scrubs loaned to him from the hospital. One hand clasped together with his mates, the other gently stroking her cheek.
Cressida's cries grew as her body pushed again. Gods be damned, this birth was nothing short of hellish.
Before much more time had passed, she felt the final push come as another onslaught of pain washed over her. The only sound bringing her back from the brink of passing out was the soft cry of a baby.
Her baby.
As a nurse brought over the bundle, she opened her arms in anticipation. This small being was her flesh and blood. Her daughter.
But not just her's. This tiny child within her arms was born to unite the waring Shadow Realms. She was a child of the people.
"She is beautiful my love." Maverick's face beamed with love and appreciation as he gazed down upon her features.
The nurse who had delivered her child to her looked on in awe; "What shall you name her, your highness?" The Fey's formality was ever present, even in moments such as these.
"Her name shall be Adaline."
