Anya and I decided on going on a hike and then out for drinks afterwards. Sitting near the ledge of the rock I admire the view, as Anya takes pictures of it. My mind drifts back to that extremely hot man at breakfast. Why was he staring at me? That look...
"Chae!" Anya shouts, pulling me from my thoughts, "you ready to head back?"
"Alright let me grab my stuff."
As we are heading down the trail we talk about random things, but decide we are taking too long and head down the mountain at a light jog.
"You want some water?" I asked, slowing down.
"Yeah sure." Anya replied slightly out of breath. "So Michaela, what did you think about that dude at breakfast?" She says wiggling her eyebrows and smirking.
"You're really gonna bring that up again?"
"Yes, Chae, when a super hot guy is checking out my friend I'm gonna bring it up."
"Yeah, well if a hot guy was checking you out I'd kill him on the spot," I say, I'm a bit over-protective of my friends.
"Oh come on, you were clearly looking at him too." As soon as she says that my cheeks turn bright red. "See I told you!" She shouts.
"Alright well I think we should get going again." I exclaim trying to avoid the subject and start running off.
"Michaela!" She shouts and sprints after me.
Laughing my head off I run faster. "You can't just ignore this, Chae!"
Anya finally catches up to me, and I slow down a bit. "Alright fine I'll admit it, he's pretty hot," I mumble, "but more importantly, where should we eat for dinner because I'm hungry."
"I'll let you off this time, but only because we're on vacation and it would turn into a long distance relationship which is never good," she grumbles.
We decided to go to Chick-fil-a, and are pulling into the parking lot, blaring music. We get out of the car and enter the building. I ordered a kid's meal because they are the best deal, and they come with free ice cream. When I went to pay, Anya told me she'd pay, and we got into the same argument we always do over who should pay because we both wanted to. Eventually I paid and she said she would make up for it. We sat down with our food and began eating. We talked about school and complained about our final exams which we had already taken. Our conversation was interrupted when someone came up to our booth. "Hello, ladies," the man said slyly.
"Ummm.....hi?" I replied genuinely confused. Anya was kicking my foot under the table a bunch, so I looked at her as if to ask why. She glanced at the man who had approached us. Holy sh*t! That was the guy from breakfast.
"Are you done staring at me?" He questioned quite amused.
"No actually I think I'll look a bit longer," I responded sarcastically. I can't believe I just said that. I was trying to hide the fact that my cheeks were bright red.
Anya quickly chimed in, "excuse my friend who thinks she's so funny, but who are you?"
"I'm sorry for not introducing myself sooner, but I'm Hunter. Hunter Scott," he replied while staring at me.
"Well I'm Anya, and this is Michaela."
"Pretty names for pretty girls."
"How many times have you used that one?" I joked.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he laughed.
"Yeah sure." I said giggling.
"But for you I mean it."
"I'm sure I'm the only person you've ever said that to."
"Can I take a seat, or are you just gonna leave me standing here?" He said quickly changing the subject.
"I don't know, can you?" I snickered.
He sat down next to me, and I immediately scooted closer to the wall. Anya got up to go to the bathroom, leaving me alone with Hunter. "So, Michaela, are you here for vacation or..." Hunter asked, seemingly curious.
"Well I'm here on vacation celebrating my twenty-first birthday, but please I prefer to be called Chaela or Chae. If you wrote it out it would be spelled weirdly, but I don't like to be called Michaela much."
"Well Chae, I have enjoyed talking to you, but I need to go here's my number. Feel free to give me a call." Then he left, leaving me in a daze thinking about what just happened. While I was sitting there it occurred to me that he never got any food. Who was this man, and why had he taken an interest in me?
Hunter's POV
Yesterday when I was going into the hotel for a conference, as soon as I walked in I smelled this amazing smell. It was like a combination of coffee and honey. I looked around and there sitting at a table was a girl and her friend eating breakfast. She was beautiful. She had tanned skin, brown hair and eyes, and her eyebrows were thick and full. She didn't seem to exactly care about her looks which just made me more attracted to her.
My wolf was going crazy at the moment, and I realized why.
"Mate," my wolf murmured.
My Beta, Jared, was also looking in the direction, but at her friend. "Mate," he whispered quietly.
I made eye contact with her for a second before she quickly looked away. She and her friend were talking about something while looking at us. She seemed to be annoyed at her friend. She looked over at me one last time before getting up and dragging her friend toward an elevator.
My suspicions of her being human were confirmed today at lunch when she showed no sign of knowing of the mate bond. When I sat down next to her, she actually scooted away, that hurt me a bit, but it makes sense if she's human.
Before I walked out I made sure to give her my number and prayed to God that she would call.
I drove back to the pack house, but when I entered Jared was glaring at me. "What! Stop looking at me like that," I exclaimed.
"You didn't get any food," he sneered, "I was really looking forward to Chick-fil-a you know."
"Well sorry, but I got distracted by my beautiful mate."
"You saw her again? Was her friend there too?" He asked, overly excited.
"Yeah and her name is Michaela. Her friend’s name is Anya."
