A Werewolf's Love

Chapter 7

Michaela POV

Over the next few days, Anya and I had spent as much time as we could with Hunter and Jared. We were going to stay in touch as much as possible while Anya and I finished college. Today was our last full day here and we would be heading back to Virginia tomorrow.

We went on a hike with the boys and afterwards went out for food and drinks. Today had been a great day, but I was going to miss these guys. Anya and Jared had gotten super close and she had told me about how they kissed. I was so happy for them, but I was taking things really slow with Hunter. The most we had done was hug, and I’m not joking.

We were driving back to the hotel with the radio playing quietly in the background while we talked. I felt so comfortable talking to Hunter and felt as though I could tell him anything, but I hadn’t told him everything yet.

I was happy to be heading home, but at the same time, I knew it was going to be hard to live without these two amazing friends in my life. We arrived back at the hotel, and I knew we would have to say goodbye now. Anya and I would be leaving fairly early in the morning and not have time to spend with them.

We walked into the hotel lobby and said our goodbyes. I was holding back tears as I thought about everything that has happened on this vacation and what they told us.

“Goodbye, Chaela, I’m going to miss you,” Hunter said, pulling me into a hug. We stayed like that for a few minutes. I was enjoying his warm embrace and felt like I could melt in his arms. We finally let go.

“I’m gonna miss you Hunter. I expect to hear from you,” I said, trying to joke.

“Okay, I will.”

We hugged one last time and they walked out the door. Anya and I slowly headed back to our hotel room.

The next morning we woke up and started our drive back home early.

Hunter POV

Saying goodbye to my mate was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I can’t blame her for not being able to stay. I shouldn’t be able to just show up one day and make her abandon her whole life. Whenever she talked about going into the military and finishing college, she got this look in her eyes, and I could tell that this was definitely something she was passionate about.

I got home late that evening and my dad was in my room waiting for me. “What do you want, Dad,” I spat, not in the mood for this. The only thing I wanted to do right now was hold my beautiful mate in my arms.

“Well, Hunter, I’d like you to think about choosing a mate since you can’t seem to find one,” he replied.

“Seriously Dad? You know the only person I want serving alongside me as Luna is my mate.”

“But son, I think we all saw you walk downstairs last week with some random human. You may only want to be in charge of this pack with your mate, but you don’t seem to have a problem sleeping around.”

“Dad you don’t understand!” I shouted at him, “I’m sorry for shouting at you, but that wasn’t just some random human.”

“Well then who was it?” He questioned.

“She’s my m- my friend. We didn’t sleep together. She was out drinking and called me so I picked her up.”

“Fine, but that doesn’t change my mind. I still think you should see other women. You know, Alpha Cameron has quite a nice daughter, and we could have better connections if you made her your Luna.”

“Dad, I can’t believe at one point in my life I looked up to you and respected you. Now I see who you really are. You don’t care about me having true love. You just want your pack to be more powerful. Well, I have something to tell you. I’m the Alpha now, and I control the pack. I will make the decisions I see fit best, and if that means, God help me, loving my own mate. Then I will, and you will have to sit back and watch because you can’t do sh*t about it.”

“Hunter...”

“Dad, you don’t understand.” I was getting sick and tired of the way he was acting. He was acting like he was in charge of my life.

“Hunter, Leah’s here to see you,” Katie, one of the Omega’s walked in.

“What the h*ll dad? You didn’t even ask me!”

“Hi, Hunter,” Leah said as she walked in the door.

“Leah,” I stated, my voice stern and emotionless.

My Dad mind-linked me, Son, just entertain her for the day. Then see how you feel about her.

This is going to be a long day.

Michaela POV

We were driving on the interstate, and got off on an exit to eat some lunch. We were stopped at the bottom of the ramp waiting to turn when another car came speeding towards us. I was driving and Anya was in the passenger seat. The car was running from the cops as we heard the sirens. I tried to swerve out of the way to avoid getting hit, but failed. We felt the car hit us, and then everything went black.

Hunter POV

The day was going by extremely slowly, and we were sitting down to eat lunch with a few of the pack members. I felt a sudden horrible pain, and I knew something was wrong. Everything hurt. Then it clicked when I saw Jared clutching his chest. Our mates were in danger. What had happened? I picked up my phone and tried calling Michaela, but she didn’t pick up.

I needed to know what happened. I prayed to God, that they would be okay. The both of them.
