Brooke’s POV
"It has been a grueling night. I informed Jason that I would be staying in Anna's room to ensure her well-being and keep a close eye on her.
Witnessing Denton's uncontrolled rage as he brutally took Donnie's life was a harrowing experience for all of us “ Evan, Jason, and myself.
I have never seen Denton act that way neither has Jason. What that poor guy is going through with Sarah and Seth . I assume is also a factor to it .
Despite Jason and I being together longer than Denton and Sarah, our engagement has been considerably shorter. It's surprising that Denton proposed after only six months of dating. Yet, almost two and a half years have passed and they have postponed their wedding twice, broken up three times, and gotten back together. Clearly, their relationship has ongoing issues.
Adding to the strain is the significant age difference between Sarah and Denton, as well as her high expectations for him. She often criticizes his dedication to the ranch, viewing it as a waste of time. While Sarah comes from a wealthy background and is used to spending money freely, the Millers have always been more practical with their finances, using money for necessities rather than extravagances.
However, this does not mean that the Miller family is poor. In fact, they are the richest family in Heston and one of the top five wealthiest families in Wyoming. It's no surprise that Sarah was only ever attracted to the Miller boys and even attempted to pursue Evan while they were in school together. However, her efforts were unsuccessful and even caused issues between Evan and his girlfriend Mia during their senior year.
Sarah eventually ended up marrying a crooked lawyer, in my opinion, who is not the most attractive individual. It's common knowledge that she married him solely for his money. They met when he brought an exotic bird to her father's vet clinic where she worked as a receptionist.
They divorced by a few years ago, and Sarah gets paid good money in alimony checks only reasonI know about it is because she likes to brag about how spoiled Seth and her arm with the check, she receives from her ex-husband.
Aunt Rose recently texted Denton to update him on Anna's progress. In order to keep a close watch on her, I made a makeshift bed beside hers. I want to ensure she has everything she needs while she recovers. I am here to support her.
Throughout the night, Anna woke up several times in distress, but she did not mention Donnie's name. In her deep sleep, she cried and mentioned someone named Joey. I knew it was going to be a long night.
The next morning, I woke up early and spoke to Jason. He informed me that Denton had instructed him to give Anna a few days off before returning to work on the ranch. In the meantime, Jason will take full responsibility for Anna, as he is now her boss. With Denton short on ranchers, he will be solely responsible for training and breaking in the horses, which means less interaction
between Anna, Jason, and Denton.
Plus Carl is expected to return from South Dakota soon. I can only hope the story the guys have concocted about his brother's sudden departure will be convincing enough."
I prepared a bowl of oatmeal, toast, and coffee for Anna, as she had not eaten in the past 24 hours. I brought it to her room and woke her up, reminding her to nourish herself.
As I climbed the stairs with the bed tray in hand, I ran into Nikki on her way downstairs for her morning routine. She asked about Anna's well-being, and I assured her that she is doing okay so far. Nikki mentioned hearing Anna's cries throughout the night and expressed her hope for a positive turn in Anna's condition.
Then Nikki says Carl is expected to return from South Dakota soon. I can only hope the story the guys have concocted about his brother's sudden departure will be convincing enough."
Brooke if you need my help with anything just let me know. I know I’m ready to pap here with this big pregnant belly but I’m still doing things and I can help you out Brooke with Anna if you need it.
I told Nikki thanks, but I got this.
As I continued to walk to Anna’s Door.
I walked in to her room and woke her up, reminding her to nourish herself.i place the bed try on her lap so she can eat . Hoping that she would and when did I was so happy . Anna thanked me for her breakfast happily .
Anna wanted to get out and get fresh air for a bit . So I decided to take her in to town . But Anna wanted to be by her for a while . So I left for a bit .Not going to far way so Che can have some time to herself. She walked down stars andout the back door .. I watched as she just sat at the little old porch swing petting buster.
As I stand in the serene confines of the greenhouse . I decided to make Anna some lavender essential oils and canon tea to help ease her stress .
I also needed to to get stuff done between working at the clinic in town and helping making sure Anna is doing all right. I haven’t done much work in the greenhouse. Mia has been picking up the extra slack between running the boutique and helping in the greenhouse, I know she’s exhausted.
Mia enters with a heavy heart. "Brooke," she begins, "Evan filled me in on the harrowing events that transpired with poor Anna." My heart sinks as I recall the troubling incident that unfolded with Denton.
Nikki, too, divulged her plans to enlist Anna's help in the orchard. As I contemplated the same idea, Mia's words echoed my thoughts. "Perhaps having Anna assist us in the greenhouse would be beneficial as well," she suggests, her eyes filled with concern.
However, Evan is adamant about keeping Anna away from Denton. After bearing witness to the disturbing encounter with Denton, it's understandable that he wants to protect her. "I wholeheartedly agree," I chime in, my voice reflecting our shared sentiment.
Mia and I exchange a knowing look, both understanding the importance of keeping Anna's mind occupied. "But did Evan mention Carter's discovery about Anna?" I inquire, my curiosity piqued. My heart aches as Mia confirms that Anna had fled from a similar situation, that happened here only days ago.
The gravity of the situation weighs heavily on us as we contemplate Anna's well-being. We will plan our next move to ensure Anna's safety and comfort in the midst of this trying time.
