Anna and I settled into our seats at the dinner table, trying to find a comfortable spot next to each other. As we settled in, Dad couldn't help but make a joke, "Well, it's about time you two joined us. I know you're grown, but please remember to keep the fornication out of the barn. I don't need my grandkids walking in on that." I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his comment.

Quickly trying to defend myself, I replied, "Dad, first of all, I was in my office with the door shut. And secondly, we weren't even in the barn. Can we please just eat?"

Ma” chimed in, trying to lighten the mood, "Now, now, your dad's right. Anna, dear, you can always say no." Nikki couldn't resist adding her two cents, "Yeah, we waited like 20 minutes for you guys to join us. Let's eat!"

Just then really chimes in and ask what’s the talk my eyes widen and tell Lily not to worry about it if she wants ice cream after dinner. Lily and Zeke hear the word ice cream and giggle excitingly.

Nikki shook her head and stabbed at her steak, clearly embarrassed. Joshua couldn't contain his laughter, and even poor Anna's face turned beet red.

Ma” quickly intervened, "Okay, okay, that's enough teasing. Let's just enjoy our dinner." But of course, Dad had to have the last word, "I've got that image of my son's bare white ass burned into my memory. As an old man, I don't have many memories left and that's one I'd like to forget. Let's just eat, shall we?"

And with that, we all settled down to enjoy our family dinner, but not without a few more awkward and humorous moments throughout the evening.

As dinner came to a close, my dad's voice boomed across the table, "Alright everyone, let's finish securing the fence before this wind storm gets any stronger. Who's with me?"

I looked at Joshua, who was eagerly nodding his head, and back at my dad, "Count me in, Dad."

I leaned over to kiss my girlfriend, Anna, and whispered, "Meet me at my house in a little bit, we'll finish our early activities together."

Anna smiled and kissed me back, "Okay, I'll stay and help clean up here."

I couldn't help but feel grateful that Anna was willing to spend time with my family and be helpful.

With our stomachs full and energy replenished, myself, Dad, and Joshua sprang up from the table and headed outside to secure the property before the wind storm caused any damage.

As I wipe the sweat from my brow, Josh's voice cuts through the air like a knife. "Hey Denton, is that fire coming from over the horse stalls?!"

I squint my eyes and peer over to where he's pointing. My heart sinks as I see massive flames engulfing the horse barn. Without a second thought, I bark at Josh to take the truck while I jump on the ATV and race towards the danger. The stench of burning flesh fills my nostrils as I approach the barn, the horses in a frenzy as they try to escape the inferno.

Amidst the chaos, my brother Evan appears behind me, his expression mirroring my own shock and anger. "What the hell is going on?!" he shouts over the roar of the flames. "This is bad, Denton, really bad."

I can feel the heat from the fire on my skin and my mind races as I try to assess the situation. That's when I see her - Anna. The barn is nearly unrecognizable, the flames threatening to consume her.

Without hesitation, I grab a fire blanket and rush towards her, my heart pounding in my chest. As I scoop her up, holding her tightly to my chest, kissing her.

I can't believe this is happening. All of our hard work, gone in just a matter of minutes. And it's all because of Anna's stupidity. I can feel my blood boiling as I stare at her unconscious body in my arms, covered in soot and ash. How could she be so careless? Smoking in the barn, of all places. I care so deeply for this woman but why would she let this happen?

My emotions are a mix of fury and disbelief. Why was she smoking in the barn? She's covered in soot and ash, and I can feel my anger bubbling to the surface. I carry her straight to her room, trying to extinguish the fire that has taken some of her clothes, missing her her body barely. My mother rushes to her side, her eyes wide with concern.

Meanwhile, Evan and Mia are outside the house, waiting for me. I tell them about Anna, and they both look at me in shock. I can see the anger building up in Evan's eyes, and I know he's trying to hold back from saying anything. Mia looks like she's about to cry. I can't blame her, this is a disaster.

I then instruct Mia to call Brooke and Evan to call Jason, and for Brooke to check on Anna and make sure she's not permanently injured. I also tell Mia to pack Anna's bags - she's caused so much damage to the property and the ranch itself.

Anna's clumsiness is becoming a major issue. I want to protect her from her crazy ex and all the dangerous situations she seems to find herself in. This is just too much right now.

But right now, I can't even think straight. I need some time away from her, even though I care deeply for her. Her actions have cost me two of my prized horses, and that's something I can't just brush off. I'm just...I'm so angry I can barely see straight.

I just need a few days, a few days to calm down a few days to get my head back on straight to figure out this situation that the ranch is in now.

So when I saw her coming out of the House walking towards me. Part of me, wanted to wrap her up my arms and tell her I forgive her. The other part of me just couldn’t stand to be around her. I was relieved that Brooke got a hold of her cousin to let Anna stay with them for a few days.
